Details on Matchmaking Playlists as well
It probably goes without saying that many of you are currently entrenched in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 or getting ready for the launch of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (or maybe even playing it, depending on your region), but there's no doubting that next week will be bringing more big name titles to vie for your limited gaming time.
One of those titles that will be hitting store shelves next week is 343 Industries' Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. While people will certainly want to jump back into the campaign when it is released, what is likely important to many of you is the Halo: CE's multiplayer component. To that end, a slew of details were released regarding the upcoming "Anniversary Map Pack" that will be available for play in both Halo: Reach and Halo: CE Anniversary.
First, let's start with the playlists that will be available with these maps. The playlists will be going live on November 14th to assure that they are available for the game's launch. You'll note that there are "Anniversary" and "Classic TU" gametypes for some maps. "Anniversary" game types contain the following, as per a post in the Halo Bulletin: no Armor Abilities, Anniversary Pistol (pistol traits have been modified to replicate CE behavior), one Frag Grenade upon loadout, player speed increased, gravity increased, jump height increased, shield and health recharge rates increased, and melee damage reduced.
TU game types, on the other hand, contain these settings: damage bleed enabled, modified reticle bloom, sword block removed, Armor Lock modified, and Active Camo modified.
Got that? Excellent! Now on to the playlist specifics.
Anniversary Squad 4v4 Slayer and Objective Contains Anniversary Classic and TU game types Maps: Battle Canyon, Beaver Creek, Solitary, Prisoner, Penance, Damnation, High Noon, Hang ‘Em High Game types: Anniversary Classic Team Slayer, Anniversary Classic Multiflag, Anniversary Classic Assault, Anniversary Classic 1 Flag, Anniversary Classic 1 Bomb, Team Slayer, Team Slayer DMRs, Team Slayer Pro, Elite slayer, Assault, Multiflag, 1 Flag DMRs, Stockpile, Crazy King DMRs, Neutral Bomb, Headhunter, Hot Potato DMRs, Territories
Anniversary BTB 8v8 Slayer and Objective Contains Anniversary Classic and TU game types Maps: Breakneck, Headlong, Ridgeline, Timberland, High Noon, Hang ‘Em High Game types: Anniversary Classic Big Team Slayer, Big Team Slayer, Big Team Snipers, Big Team Elite Slayer, Big Team Multiflag, Big Team 1 Flag, Big Team Assault, Big Team 1 Bomb, Big Team Neutral Bomb, Big Team Territories, Big Team Crazy King, Big Team Stockpile
Anniversary FFA FFA Slayer with a pinch of Objective Contains Anniversary Classic and TU game types Maps: Battle Canyon, Beaver Creek, Solitary, Prisoner, Penance, Damnation, High Noon, Hang ‘Em High Game types: Anniversary Classic Slayer, Slayer, Slayer DMRs, Slayer Pro, Elite Slayer, Headhunter, Crazy King, Infection, Alpha Zombies, Oddball
Anniversary Classic 4v4 Slayer and Objective Contains Anniversary Classic game types Maps: Beaver Creek, Hang ‘Em High, Headlong, Damnation, Prisoner Game types: Anniversary Classic Team Slayer, Anniversary Classic Team Snipers, Anniversary Classic Multiflag, Anniversary Classic 1 Flag, Anniversary Classic Assault, Anniversary Classic 1 Bomb, Anniversary Classic Oddball
Anniversary Firefight Contains our most popular Firefight variants Map: Installation 04 Game types: Arcade Fistfight, Arcade Nadefight, Arcade Rocketfight, Arcade Sniperfight, Arcade FRGfight, Arcade Plasmafight, Arcade Fiestafight, Arcade Arcadefight
Anniversary Classic game types have the following settings: no Armor Abilities, Anniversary Pistol (pistol traits have been modified to replicate CE behavior), one Frag Grenade upon loadout, player speed increased, gravity increased, jump height increased, shield and health recharge rates increased, and melee damage reduced. Please note that the standard TU changes also apply to Anniversary Classic game types.Alright, now that we have all that information, let's go through the maps, six of which are multiplayer maps and one of which is a Firefight map.
Battle Canyon (2-8 Players) http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4590/image3wf.png The rocky warrens of this part of Halo provide the ideal environment for an array of impressive telemetry clusters. These spires’ synchronization conduits ensure that the ring’s translocation grid is always fully operational, part of a remarkably powerful system which allows near-instant transportation across the full ten thousand kilometers that span the installation.Breakneck (8-16 Players) http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/7439/image42f.jpg Section 21 once looked out onto the New Mombasa Orbital Elevator with pride and optimism. Now, with much of the city flooded by the Covenant’s brutal assault, the skyline is only a shattered ghost of what it once was as the battle for humanity’s survival continues on the streets and corridors below.
High Noon (4-12 Players) http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/6062/image52bp.jpg The vast generator complexes which power this enormous slipspace portal allow it to connect with an unknown number of locations across the galaxy. However, passage through this system requires a Forerunner keyship, and few command such a vessel this long after the disappearance of the portal’s creators. Penance (2-8 Players) http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/1364/image62t.jpg As the primary satellite of the Unggoy homeworld, Buwan provides the perfect environment for this massive Covenant hydro-facility used to power and refuel a variety of capital ships. Though still operational via automated subsystems, the station was abandoned shortly after the breaking of the Covenant. Ridgeline (8-16 Players) http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4874/image72ty.jpg Once serving as a watchpoint for the immense relay complex below, the monitoring outposts nestled atop this ridge became a staging ground for human forces during their time on Installation 04. Toward the end of the conflict, a Covenant assault brought the resistance of the marines here to a tragic end. Solitary (2-8 Players) http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/705/image82y.jpg These spinning confinement platforms are a testament to the technological prowess of the Forerunners. In the event of a security breach, the facility’s suborbital location and frigid temperature were thought to be able to keep any threat at bay, but it appears those plans were… optimistic. Installation 04 (1-4 Players) http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/5782/image92k.jpg When the UNSC Pillar of Autumn arrived at Alpha Halo—also known as Installation 04—the Covenant was already there to welcome them. The conflict that followed raged across the surface of the ringworld, eventually pitting the renowned and battle-hardened ODSTs against a merciless Covenant assault, which would stop at nothing to control Halo. That's a lot to take in right? Well, we have just a bit more to share with you regarding the installation of these maps.
The "Anniversary Map Pack" will be available on the Halo: CE disc. For those of you buying the game, you will receive a code to download these maps for use in Halo: Reach as well. Of course, if you have Reach, but will not be purchasing Halo: CE, then you can purchase the maps when they go live on November 15th for 1200 MSP.
For those of you who are getting Halo: CE, but do not have Reach, simply launch the "Anniversary" maps at the main menu. If you own both games, 343 recommends "installing the maps using the Anniversary Map Pack code that comes with Anniversary. You will then be able to launch the Anniversary maps from both the Anniversary and Reach menus". Finally, if you purchase the map pack, then it's treated like any other piece of DLC and you'll be able to launch the maps from the Reach menu.
Alright, so you got all that, Spartan? As a sign of congrats for making this far, let me point you to the Halo: CE launch trailer for your viewing pleasure.
Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary launches next Tuesday, November 15th, giving you precious little time to still get in on the game's pre-order bonus.

What I'm seeing is a few maps that were in the original Halo. Why aren't they already a party of Anniversary? If you're releasing an updated version of the game, why would you remove some things from it that were in the original, but then make a DLC to give it back and then announce that BEFORE the game is even out?
It'd be really hard for me to justify getting this. And even tougher to justify getting the whole game knowing now that some of my favorite maps are going to be missing. I'll just stick with Halo PC and Reach. |

| This and Skyrim are the last two games that really matter for me this year. Sure, I'll be picking up other games, but they're not nearly as dear to me. |

It is included with CE: A, but you can buy just the maps for Reach if you don't want the campaign. |

The maps shown are a Reach map pack, because that's what this game's multiplayer is - when you launch multi from the CEA menu, it's going to be taking you into Reach. |

Also, this seems like the kind of thing they might want to say at the beginning of the article rather than in a patch at the end after all the stuff that'll piss me off. |

hope so that would be coolNo, the only DLC for Reach you're getting with the game are the seven or so maps that CE is launching with. You won't be getting the Noble map pack or the second one which I'm blanking on right now with CE:A. |

Halo: CE Anniversary does not have a built in multiplayer as such. The original engine didn't have online multiplayer so the Anniversay edition doesn't either. Instead it's got an added on multiplayer component that uses the Reach engine, which is what this post is talking about.
You can play the multiplayer with the Anniversary edition disk or if you have Reach then you'll also get a code with the Anniversary edition that you can use to download the maps so you can play them with Reach.
If you have Reach and don't plan on getting the Anniversary edition then you can just buy the maps as a DLC if you want to play on them. |

hope so that would be coolIt would be cool but its not like ODST. When you load the CE disc you can only play the new playlists on the new maps. With purchasing CE new you get a code to download the maps for Reach as well and you can play on all playlists and forge with these maps (everybody in the lobby has to have the maps for them to appear in the old playlists. To be able to play in the new playlists you have to have the maps since they are the only ones playable there) |
