I'd like somebody to make a zombie game where it has to be a headshot kill and stick to the old school walkers instead of these new "infected" runners.
Your question is rather ambiguous too. Do you mean which is the best game or which game portrays zombies in the most accurate way (in your opinion)? Either way it is still Dead Rising for me.best zombie game = best zombie game, not game with most accurate depiction of zombies. |

Really difficult to choose between Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead. Dead Rising has a top notch single player campaign, but the Dead Rising 2 co-op is horrendously bad. Left 4 Dead isn't really worth playing in single player mode but the multiplayer really blows my skirt up.
Since I have to choose, I'm going with Left 4 Dead. The first Dead Rising was amazing, and as much as I hate to pick an FPS, the L4D franchise has gone from strength to strength, whereas the DR franchise is getting worse, slowly but surely.
If the poll hadn't been for the entire franchises, and had, for example, pitted the first Dead Rising against Left 4 Dead 2, it would have been considerably more difficult. |

Zombie games need to die. NOW. They're becoming the new World War II shooter of over-saturated... sub-genres? That the term?
But to answer the question, Nazi Zombies did it best. It wasn't the first, but you have to give it props for starting out as a fun bonus mode that only got bigger, and even added (albeit a stupid one) a plot.
Did left4dead have any memorable dialogue (and no, "GRABBIN PILLS" doesn't count)? I think not.
Also, Resident Evil sucks ass now. It sucked then and it sucked now. The only one that didn't suck was 4. |

I hate all of these games with a passion.
Went for 'Other' for Prototype, with Dead Space a close second.
In Dark Souls, you are technically undead. Not in the traditional sense, but if included it is FAR better than any of these games. |

There's a reason there's so many zombie games. If people didn't like them there wouldn't be so many of them. There's plenty of other games you could play that don't involve zombies. |

I voted for Dead Rising, not because it is the best game in the list, but because it is the best zombie game. If you are in need of a zombie fix, Dead Rising has plenty |

| I still don't know which was more deserving of my vote. Dead Island was fantastic with it's wide variety of weapons, multiple characters, and even New Game +. Resident Evil 5 & HD was my other choice due to the sheer fact that I have beaten RE4 more times than any other game (including Borderlands). In the end, Dead Island got it for me. |

| I may not be among the majority here but my vote went to Plants vs. Zombies. This game came from PopCap so it wasn't among the giant developers but it still is an amazing game. It might not be as gory as the other zombie games but it is just as fun and that is why it got my vote. Especially for the Xbox gaining new game modes, different plants, and still at arcade price I don't see how you can not want to play this one |

| It has to be the Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare, it was a great single player experience, something which most zombie games do not focus on, and being Red Dead Redemption was already building off a GOTY. It was also nice to have an object other then the cliche of surviving. |

I chose Red Dead Redemption's DLC. It is probably the only game there that challenges the current zombie hegemony, in both the video game realm as well as the film realm.
The current cycle of zombie media we are experiencing right now has been a simile for pathogen and contagion and the resulting break down of society. This all ties into real world woes in the post 9/11 scape we all live in. The scare of anthrax, biological weapons, or even HIV becomes a zombie/infested virus. The loss of normality in our everyday life with the proliferation of Homeland Security and Panopticon structures mirrors the breakdown of our society.
I could go on and on and on and how zombie media reflects present day woes, but you know what? It's all been done, and it's getting old. I like things that challenge the hegemony and RDR does just that.
For starters, the zombies in RDR are magic zombies. There's no chemicals, no viruses, nor disease. It's magic! This harkins back to the old days of voodoo zombies. You all remember the movie White Zombie from 1932 staring Bela Legosi? Probably not, but once upon a time zombies were portrayed this way. The last great magic zombie movie was probably Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2. RDR may not have had voodoo per se, but they were magical zombies, and frankly I liked it.
There is no society to break down in RDR, in fact by nature RDR resists the on comming society in every way shape and form. Societal constructs claim John's life, but his untamed son carries on. Despite the game taking place in the 1910s, horses and trains and the wilderness are still the norm - and in this reality the land resists the influx of society. So RDR is in essence already society free, and the zombie DLC instead improves on what society exists in New Austin. While normal zombie movies reward the wanderers, that human encampments eventually fail, in RDR people work together, hire you to go get loved ones, and generally make it through the Nightmare.
The Cowboy setting is a welcome change to the zombie settings that take place in Urban Decay. The breakdown of society is seen in the buildings and ruins, but in RDR, though foggy and kinda spooky, the world is mostly trees, rocks, and cacti, and they live on unfazed. Structures are prone to catch fire, but they are quickly put out and remedied. John works for the people in the land, helping out the settlements, instead of lone wolfing it.
So, different type of zombies, different types of social critique, and cowboy setting win this game out for me.
Plus it has a unicorn you can ride. How cool is that? |

| Went with Dead Island. It was difficult to choose between that, RDR and L4D. Couldn't stand the Dead Rising games. |

| a tie between dead island and l4d series. I think a game based on Nazi zombies would be fun though. Having missions while avoiding zombies: Any takers? |

| I'm probably in the minority having picked Plants vs Zombies. I found the game really fun and played through it in virtually record time for my usual attention span. The Left4Dead games give me a bit of a headache because of the view and color system. |
