Wow, quiet in here. I guess staying awake for 24+ hours isn't something I can do anymore, as I've managed to get myself a nice cold. Been dealing with a fever last night - man I never knew 80 degrees was cold! That has obviously side-tracked my usual blog. I had some friends here playing Halo last night, but I did break away from the fragfest to pull the now playing data. A few hours late, but here goes....
First off, everyone deserves recognition - we've survived past the halfway point! As much as I thought there was going to be a case of leap-frog at the bottom last period, it didn't happen... KFC appeared to be jockeying themselves in position to use a bonus to win the prize for finishing in 49th place. As it turned out, they were able to take their bonuses to the grave with them.... not really sure how wise that was, but perhaps they were ready to throw in the hat anyways. Now they get some US MSP to fill that hat up with before they ride off into the sunset.

The Walking Dead came in with a strong showing. Quick gamerscore and a decent story convinced 34 gamers to play it this period. 4 of those just started it. Together they unlocked 3,235GS in it over the last 2 weeks.
Fling (WP) shows strong here, proof that we do more than play games. We play games WHILE we play games. 32 people started & played this title over the previous period earning a total of 2,665GS.
Chickens Can't Fly (WP) makes a strong 3rd place showing with 27 gamers draining their batteries while finger tapping away on their screens. 14 of them started it during the past period and together they unlocked 1,845GS.
The top 3 most started games this past period were:
Fling (WP) reigns supreme in the most started category - and I've noticed that WP games have a tendency to do so. 32 phone users grabbed this gem and ran with it.
Magic: The Gathering 2013 brought the magic of Shandalar to the living rooms (for the 3rd year running) of 22 duelists. Their fantastic spells and creatures helped them unlock 3,150GS in their quest for world domination.
Gerbil Physics (WP) takes the cake for worst WP game title in my book. What goes up must come out, eh? Regardless of the origins of this game, 18 have managed to play it. 16 started it this past period. 4 managed to claw their way through it pretty fast. All told, these furry features feasted on 1,780GS.

The Walking Dead served up its 2nd chapter of goodness and 27 gamers ate it up. Don't forget this easy one when the time comes...
Modern Warfare 3 rolled out DLC lately giving 12 gamers the ambition to frag some pimple faced teenagers who rage when they die. 1 gamer started it this period and 20 played it overall - unlocking 2,250GS at gunpoint.
Magic: The Gathering 2013 is as much a test of will as it is of skill - staring down your opponent and preparing a devastating attack is but part of the duties of a summoner. 8 gamers know this as they have completed the requirements for this year.
The top 3 games by achievements unlocked this past period were:
Fling (WP) proved to be popular as the 349 achievements we unlocked in it show. Well, popular or easy...
Magic: The Gathering 2013 doled out 332 achievements to aspiring spellcasters.
The Walking Dead keeps us in the easy GS for some time to come if things go to plan. This period it served 260 brains (err achievements) nicely chilled.
The top 3 games by gamerscore earned this past period were:
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs shows those Games on Demand (GoD? lol) sales paid off. Although it is a 3-4 hour game, it was the single highest scoring game this past period. Who would have thought it would get busted out this early.... but then again, just look at CSI and Fallout (PC) to see how mush easy stuff we've already blasted through. 8 started it, 8 played it, 7 finished it - for a total of 7,610GS - well above the others.
Lollipop Chainsaw is still seeing play as well - this period 19 played it, 8 started it, 3 finished it for a grand total of 4,470GS.
LEGO Batman 2 supercharges those LEGO bricks like never before. Must be a simple title, as 8 played it, 8 started it and 2 finished it... that's 25% of our contestants compared to the 12.23% on site. We rock... err brick! 4,005 bricks were collected but no superheroes were harmed.
Congratulations again to KFC FingerlickinGood. Their perseverance has allowed them (a team of random gamers assembled to fight against the masses) to place in the top 50 of this years contest and take home a little something for each of them. Thanks again to DrJekl for generously donating those points. I'll be contacting you 5 shortly - I have a regularly scheduled boost I must take care of first... Far Cry 2 is such a long grind....
The final bonus is available this period. I'll try to explain it a bit better as I've been getting a few questions about it.
What 'the same TA gain' means is that each of the 5 teammates ending TA gain for the week must match at the end of the period. If the highest scoring player on your team pulls out say... 3000TA exactly this period, each team member must also match their 3000TA gain. If one member is 1TA over or under another - you don't all have the same gain and wouldn't be eligible for the bonus. This bonus will require some serious teamwork and communication to pull off as all 5 members must be on board for this to be possible. One hint - TA recalculates achievement scores daily. The site is generally done with the update around 9AM US Eastern - giving your team a minimum of 12 hours (likely a few more) to get in sync on the final day of the period. Good luck! |

I see a few people mini diving this week, four people seriously diving and none of them are beanpotter. What happened there? lol
And surprisingly none of them are Richard Bastion
That's quite funny this week. I was going down the GTASC leaderboard checking scores and I got to the bottom quicker then I expected lol

| No problem, the GTASC Bean Dive mini competition had to run for a week really, so starting it on Sunday was the only real option as it then encompassed the 7th. |

That's right... high noon has come and past and we have a winner!
Congratulations to BemusedBox for being the 37th highest scoring individual @ noon. You've won yourself a shiny Kinect! Although the hardware will work fine in your region, I'm not 100% sure if the bundled games are region-free.
The dirty details:
DakotaThrice was in 36th place with 1,304 TA earned.
BemusedBox in the winning 37th spot with 1300 TA earned.
Chunkeh Munkeh came up a bit short to land in 38th place with 1290 TA earned.
Sorry everyone, I'm not my usual bubbly self. 5 days with a fever and 3 with no food or any practical sleep has seriously drained me. I've ended up with a nasty case of bronchitis and can't stop coughing long enough to sleep more than 30 minutes at a clip. Got an appointment tomorrow... I'm hoping I can at least get some sleep! |

I was extremely annoyed as my 13 pointer didn't scan through after 'being scanned' twice. But it seemed it happened to someone else as well so I would have been 38th regardless.

Looks like a linux update killed the server.
Will try to have it back up ASAP.
EDIT: Or maybe it's just a fluke. Looks like the file system is corrupt. =( -- might be rebuilding the server today. |
