First off let me say that I think Left 4 Dead 2 is amazing. The new campaigns, the new weapons, the balancing of power between the Infected and the Survivors, and the new Scavenge gametype. Just all of it is amazing. I love the game so much more than it's previous verison.
That being said, I hope that a yearly release does not become a trend for this game. The game is so amazing right now that Valve should let it be. If there is a Left 4 Dead 3 next year around November then I will begin to be scared. So many awesome game series have gone down the tube because the publishers or the developers just tried to turn them into cash cows because people liked them.
Take Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for example. I loved the first game and I played it so much on my N64 that the cartridge is too old to read now. I wasn't quite completely done with it when the second one came out. Loving the first one so much, I rushed out and begged my grandparents to get that one for me as well. I played that one a lot too, but before too long they brought out a third game. The same could be said for the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Look at the Tony Hawk series now. There are so many games in that series that there is no originality to any of the later sequels. It's just new maps or storylines. It's like leftovers from a really good meal. The food is still the same great food you had the last time you ate. But that's the problem. It's the same.
When I go out to buy a new game, I want something new. I don't want the same old game with different maps. With a sequel, you have to be extra creative to make sure the game doesn't turn out to be the exact same game as before.
Left 4 Dead 2 has accomplished this goal in my mind. It relates well to the first game, but there are also lots of new features that have kept me interested.
I'm not saying that if Left 4 Dead 3 came out next year that I would not go buy it. I just don't know at the moment how much more they can change in the game with it still being Left 4 Dead. I just don't want one of my favorite game series to be driven into the ground like Sonic and Tony Hawk before them. |

| i can see where ur coming from defiantly. me on the other hand would love a new L4D each year. seeing as how much they improved from the 1st one in such a short time. but i also feel like 60 bucks each year is pushin it. if they they cut the price to 40 or even 50. i agree with u tho if they make a million sequals it will turn to shit but a few more wouldnt hurt. i can always use more zombie decapitation! |

| I'm not saying I would not buy a third or even a fourth one if they continue to bring them out. I just don't want them to become cash cows like the other two. |

The only reason why L4D2 was way better is because L4D wasn't that good. It got boring pretty quickly. You knew the paths, you know which chapters had witch spawns, which chapters had tank spawns. You knew where to camp for crescendo moments. It got boring after 1 week of playing. Not to mention limited infected types. Overall you have 6 infected types to fight and only 2 of them have slight difficulty.
I want more DLC for L4D, maybe one following up what happens on the boat after Death Toll. http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/60402 I'm hoping if it is a campaign linking death toll the dead air it might feature an aquatic type infected in one of the chapters in the campaign. |

I can probably think of 4 or 5 really awesome spots from the campaing that they could put scavenge maps on. |

Valve promised more content... |
Why do today when you can just avoid it until your not "busy"? |
