Sending in reinforcements
If you're looking for more maps and add-ons to add to your Battlefield 3 experience, EA has some great news for you. Never to be outdone by Call of Duty, the Battlefield team has revealed their DLC schedule for the remainder of the year. There will be three more map packs coming, starting in June, and each one will bring with it a certain gameplay focus.
First, in June, will come "Close Quarters", which, as the name suggests, will focus on infantry combat. Then, sometime in the fall, "Armored Kill" will be released, which focuses a lot more on vehicles than other maps and it will also boast the largest map in the history of the series. Lastly, in the winter, the details-light "End Game" will be released. Before you rush off to secure more Microsoft Points, here's the full word from EA and DICE:
Battlefield 3:Close Quarters — In Battlefield 3:Close Quarters, players are dropped into a frantic, infantry-only theater of war. Frostbite 2 high definition destruction makes the environment come alive as everything from furniture to plaster gets shot to pieces. Players will feel the intensity of the world exploding around them as rubble and broken pieces pile up on the floor, while tight level design and vertical gameplay create a highly competitive environment. Battlefield 3:Close Quarters also introduces new weapons, assignments and unique dog tags to bring back to the base game.
Battlefield 3:Armored Kill — Following the tight infantry gameplay of Battlefield 3:Close Quarters, DICE will release Battlefield 3:Armored Kill that ups the ante for vehicular mayhem as only Battlefield can do. Featuring new driveable tanks, ATVs, mobile artillery and more, Battlefield 3:Armored Kill also delivers huge battlefields for an all-out vehicle assault, including the biggest map in Battlefield history.
Battlefield 3:End Game — The fourth expansion pack will ship in the winter but details remain tightly guarded. No pricing was announced, but it would stand to reason that they will be similarly priced to the first DLC, "Back to Karkand", at 1200 MSP.
In related BF3 online news, private servers will be coming to consoles, EA has also announced. "A fully integrated rent-a-server program for console players will be available for gamers to play online with friends the way they want to play in either private, public, ranked or unranked matches,” said a representative from Electronic Arts.
Look for more coverage of these upcoming add-ons here on TA, and thanks to the whole bunch of you that sent in this news. |

Very rare to see a game with such a well planned and long-term DLC schedule; feels like DICE really cares about supporting and expanding on Battlefield 3 and its community.
Fingers crossed for a set of snowy maps, with matching camo for both vehicles and infantry! Bad Company style! |

Good to see a well thought out DLC schedule on the horizon. Love the game and day one purchases for me!
Not too much of a fan of separating the vehicle and infantry combat as BF3 greatest strength is the integration of the two but but I will withhold opinion until it comes out.
I wonder what the 'end game' could refer to?

Check out my walk through right here on TA!The two gameplay aspects won't be separated, it's just each map pack will focus more on those things. At least, that's how I read it. Like the infantry-focused stuff might be smaller, maybe urban settings like some of the game's maps right now, and the vehicle-focused stuff would be the opposite, like some of the other maps. |

| I've been waiting for this. To me back to karkand sucked, I didn't like the whole conquest assault set up,or the spawn system. Hopefully they step it up this time. |

Neither of these sound significantly different than the game as it is, so I'm not excited yet. Close Quarters will be a guaranteed shotgun fest, and even without the USAS that will suck imo. Armored Kill might be interesting if there's almost enough vehicles for everyone and say, 6 aircraft.
I just want that "2143" on Wake Island to be more than a tease... |

Close quarters? I think I threw up in my mouth. I do not want to play close quarter maps on Battlefield. I want to play large scale maps. Good thing Armored Kill sounds like all large maps.
If I wanted to play close quarter maps, I would go play that "other" shooter out right now. Oh yeah, not happening. |

The problem is not the game, the problem is this console port on the weak Xbox 360. If we have 64 !!! players like the PC version, no one will scream for this game type. |

| Sounds great! but, I'm not sold on the whole rentable servers thing. Multiplayer on the console, for me, has been fine enough. Never played multiplayer on the PC, so I don't understand that concept. Maybe someone can enlighten me. |

| We ask for private matches and get rentable servers? That's right, EA wont do anything if there isn't a profit to be made. How nice of them to give us almost what we want (for a modest fee of course.) |
