Game and achievement stats for TA members for last month
March has become sort of a mini-November for gaming calendars over the past few years. A lot of the blockbuster games that can't make the Holiday window, or maybe don't want to, instead settle on March. Gamers and their wallets are finally recovering from the rush of games in October and November and are digging deep into the abundance of great games when *BAM!* you hit them again with a few more big titles.
This report is for the period March 1st to March 31st 2012.
Games Started 82,454 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 198,820 games between them (1,776 different games).
In the games started category, there was never really a chance. Shepard's finale blew away the competition, by more than 5 to 1 over second place. These are some staggering numbers. Even in the first few days of April ME3 has added another 3,000+ tracked gamers. Just that figure would've been good for fifth place on this list. A few of the fall's biggest releases still remain high on the list, too.
Top Retail Games Started
The top five of this list is very interesting to me. In first place, we have a highly-anticipated and highly-promoted arcade game released in March. Then we have a Kinect Fun Lab ranking second. The nature of this site explains that. Then Alan Wake stands strong in the third spot, despite releasing in February. In fourth place is the first non-House Party title of the month. And finally, rounding out the top five is the blink and you'll miss the 200G Daytona USA. It's a very varied list and each game is there for different reasons. It's also interesting to note how many of these are sale items. I guess you guys that say you'll wait for a sale aren't kidding. I admire your patience, because I haven't any when it comes to games I want.
Top Arcade Games Started
The WP7 top game makes a lot of sense. Take a franchise that people enjoy and are familiar with, and spin it off to mobile devices, though, from what I've heard, some people were disappointed with this game. Is that true? How was it? Also appearing on the list are constants (like [LOST spoilers] Penny) Angry Birds, Sudoku, and Minesweeper.
Top Windows Phone Games Started
Games Completed 19,326 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 42,335 games between them (1,485 different games).
ME3 of course tops the games completed, but look at the rest of it. MW3 reappears thanks to recent DLC with achievements; the awful NCIS cracks the list thanks to CSI:-level simple gamerscore, and most interestingly, Mass Effect 2 and Mass Effect appear, surely because gamers were trying to finish them off before diving into the finale. Were any of you accounted for in all three of those completions?
Top Retail Games Completed
This portion tells us something we already knew: We love gamerscore, especially when it's free. With eight Fun Labs making the list, that's 400 free gamerscore if you completed all of them. The second and third games are also very easy, which is the only reason most anyone would buy them.
Top Arcade Games Completed
Whether or not Toy Soldiers for WP7 is fun, it's certainly easy. Almost all of you who started it, completed it during March. Some other classics like UNO and Monopoly also made the cutoff.
Top Windows Phone Games Completed
Achievements Won 111,657 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 4,249,218 achievements online between them (53,956 different achievements).
You can't say much about this list that isn't immediately said by looking at it. This series is huge. Whatever they do with the ending, do you really think EA will let the universe go away? I predict a new game for the series will be announced before 2013.
Top Retail Achievements Won
This list contains almost nothing but the two bigger House Party titles, save for a few from Voice Studio and just the sole (and first) achievement from Demiurge's action game. The XBLA promos are always a fun time because we really do get some of the best the service has to offer. Arcade NEXT looks to be even bigger this month.
Top Arcade Achievements Won
Yup. It's confirmed. Toy Soldiers is pretty easy. It's achievements are uninterrupted in the top ten spots. I've never played on a Windows Phone and I don't own a smart phone. i haven't cared to before. I've prioritized upgrading my gaming library and TV before my phone. But now I think I might get one. Any suggestions as to which phone? I think I'd prefer a Windows Phone, unless you guys tell me they aren't worth it.
Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
In the last, consistently staggering category, Role-Playing stands tall for the month, holding off the abundance of shooters. The crazy numbers for Mass Effect 3 were supplemented with a few more Skyrim and Reckoning gamers. Is this the first time Role-Playing has won the month? It could be.

| That Toy Soldiers game is three simple and garbage minigames. Only one achievement provides any difficulty at all and the game just plain sucks. I would have felt ripped off even I only payed a dollar. Blink and you'll miss it. |
"Slutty outfit? You're one to talk." "This isn't slutty, it's...strategically placed." |

| I don't know if this month could be compared to October-November of last year... Well, I am relieved to know that a lot of people still playing L.A. Noire. That just made my day! |

Nice to see RPGs on top, Mass Effect 3 is a jewel. Best game trilogy ever!
I would be surprised if they announced a new Mass Effect this year, I think that Bioware will stick with DLC for ME3 until the end of the year and probably announce Dragon Age 3 instead. I don't mind waiting until the next-gen consoles for another ME, I want Bioware to take their time, please no more rushed projects like DA2. I would love to see 4-player campaign coop in Bioware's next titles. |

| No real surprise about Daytona USA to me at least, it was on sale and is an easy 200G. Promising numbers for Voice Studio too - hopefully it will help with the kinect voice recognition in the long run. |

| Saw Spartacus and got a chuckle, not too surprised ME is still dominating these stats though. Tenormans revenge isn't getting quite as much attention as I figured it would. |

I wouldn't call it garbage but it's really only worth the 99 cents from the deal. Seemed more like a web browser flash title. |
