Ready to Don The Fortress?
Thanks to DICE revealing their DLC schedule last month for Battlefield 3, fans of the title will have their calendar/diary/palm-pilot's remaining days of the year marked with "playing BF3 :)". The first DLC to arrive will be the "Close Quarters" pack in which we have already seen an included map, Ziba Tower, in some sweet gameplay action, alongside some destructive screens showcasing the before and after of the location being destroyed by gunfire and explosives. EA and DICE have now released new screens and a gameplay trailer for another map included in the first DLC, entitled Donya Fortress, along with new details for the "Close Quarters" DLC as a whole.
The screens make Donya Fortress look a lot more dark and gloomy than Ziba Tower, and really get the point across that battles taking place in the Fortress will truly be 'close quarters' -- and potentially full of flashlights and laser sights! Putting the screens into motion, the trailer showcases the always very good looking HD destruction from Battlefield 3, as players battle it out in Donya Fortress. Also showcased in the trailer is a new game mode called 'Conquest Domination'. DICE gave out a small summary on the new mode alongside the gameplay trailer:

The key features of the upcoming "Close Quarters" DLC have also been detailed, mainly highlighting the new weapons that will be on offer. New assignments, dog tags and weapons for each kit will be available once the DLC goes live. Here's a quick rundown of the new toys:
- Get plunged into frantic and relentless infantry combat on 4 new maps
- HD Destruction lets you reduce entire locales to ruin
- Complete 10 new Assignments and equip 5 unique dog tags
- Earn 10 new weapons and bring them back to the base game including:
• AUG Assault Rifle
• SCAR Assault Rifle
• ACW-R Carbine
• MTAR-21 Carbine
• M417 Sniper Rifle
• JNG-90 Sniper Rifle
• L86LSW Machine Gun
• LSAT Machine Gun
• M5K Tactical Machine Pistol
• SPAS-12 Shotgun Are Battlefield 3 fans ready for some intense, tight action with the upcoming "Close Quarters" DLC, or will these type of maps just be way too close and personal?
The "Close Quarters" DLC pack is still scheduled for a June release, but now comes with a confirmed 1200 MSP price tag. |

| I'm still not sure whether I'm going to get this or not. I enjoy battlefield but I hate OP Metro and Grand Bazaar but the corridors are just too tight. |

| If this was any other Battlefield I'd call this is a mistake, but the gameplay for this one is capable of intense shootouts that team deathmatch just can't provide. I'll take "something new" dlc to "more of the same" dlc anyday. |

Damn the SPAS...if I remember my past games right, that thing gave me hell in Rainbow Six Vegas (2).
But the SCAR as an assault rifle? That's already my primary carbine, so the ability to use it for two classes definitely has my interest. |

Just getting into gears 3 after being engulfed by other old games I had stocked up. This is going to get me back into battlefield 3 as a whole mainly because i've been expecting more maps like damavand peak or maps from bad company 2 where you only have little birds and black hawks like in black hawk down. Wouldn't mind if they added Somalians as an enemy force :P.
*edit* I know this is going to be infantry only or at least that's what it sounds like but that's what I really do mean but even if they had choppers i'd want them to be the weakest or easily shot down if they do add them which they probably won't. |
