One does not simply walk into (LEGO) Mordor...
UPDATE: Don't panic folks! The game's happening, but it's been outted via LEGO LotR toy sets that were released for preview to some lucky individuals. This essentially puts the game in the 'rumor' category as there hasn't been official, non-leaked word. If it's anything like LEGO Batman 2, confirmation is soon follow, perhaps during E3. Further, the Summer date on the images below is for the toy sets, the game appears to be slated for a Fall release. Thanks to Holodrone for pointing this out!
Original Story
We all know everybody loves when Traveller's Tales gives a beloved series the LEGO treatment. Be it Batman, or Star Wars, or Harry Potter, it's almost become a sign that your franchise is a pop-culture fixture when the characters and worlds appear in brick form.
Given the above, many of you will likely be excited to hear that the Lord of the Rings franchise will be the next to receive the LEGO treatment. Traveller's Tales and Warner Bros. have not released many details yet, but we do have a couple of images to share with you:

LEGO Lord of the Rings is set for a Summer 2012 release. Of course, this merits the question: Which LEGO title will you pick up? Lord of the Rings or LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes?
