Vorpal Smilodon has just submitted some Game Info for X-Blades:
Sub Genre change from Hack & Slash to [No Sub-Genre]
Vorpal Smilodon said:Considering the equal emphasis on sword attacks, gun attacks and magic attacks and the TPS style camera, I think no subgenre would be more applicable for this title. |

i just played the game recently and id have to say its a hack and slash, there are other hack&slash games with those elements for example. Knights Contract magic and melee attacks have equal importance in this game(id say its impossible to win without magic) Devil May Cry 4 and shooting is also quite useful in this game as well. |
Remember, science rhymes with compliance. Do you know what doesn't rhyme with compliance? NEUROTOXIN |

I suppose most of my argument here is based on the camera acting as in a Shooter, looking where you aim, rather than the follow camera you have in games likes Knights Contract or Devil May Cry.
Edit: Discussion in the Star Wars the Force Unleashed thread has brought to my attention that X-Blades lacks traditional hack'n'slash gameplay in the form of combo attacks |

As was mentioned somewhere else, the weapons of choice have little to do with genre classification. Your argument should not be based on weapon types. The game includes combos. It encourages you to build combos and displays a counter.
While we thank you for your submission, we cannot agree with your arguments and have to dismiss the request for a genre change! |
