Vorpal Smilodon has just submitted some Game Info for Dead Space:
Genre change from Action-Adventure to Shooter Sub Genre change from Survival Horror to Third Person Shooter
Vorpal Smilodon said:Ammo is prevalent, and you never have to run from a fight - in fact in most cases running from a fight isn't an option. Even if a part would get particularly hairy you have the freeze attack as a backup that turns any threat into a popsicle waiting for you to carve it's limbs off |

| Surprised you suggested Dead Space over RE5 for TPS. |

| I haven't played enough of RE5 to comment, but if you think it's more of a TPS why not suggest the change yourself? |

| I'm not overly concerned about our genre classifications for games until people bring them up as suggestions. |

| Having completed the game I would say it is a Survival Horror game and would like to see it stay as such. |

Dead Space not a Survival Horror game?! What planet are you from? Dead Space 1 was one of the most atmospheric games I've played in a while and had me paranoid in places that monsters were going to pop out of anywhere.
Dead Space 2 was even scarier in my opinion...
I'm sorry but this genre suggestion is beyond stupid |

| The team has discussed your submission and decided that the game will stay with its current Survival Horror sub-genre! It is by no means a simple Shooter! Nevertheless, thank you for your submission! |

Please do not make the mistake to compare games on perceived subjective equality. Dead Space features many survival elements, an inventory system, limited resources and more general adventure elements such as for example puzzles.
As I have said on numerous occasions, elements of the Shooter genre have become a standard medium and are used across many other genres. Do not make the mistake to think that because you have guns and can aim them at your enemy that the game is a Shooter. Moreover, please do not evaluate games based on a specific difficulty setting. I agree with you that on easy, the survival aspects are very negligible but that does not mean that they are non-existent. I am not saying that we evaluate games solely on the hardest difficulty, au contraire. Gameplay elements are however usually independent from the difficulty you play on and we evaluate gameplay elements and difficulty is none! |

| I forgot that Dead Space had puzzles - honestly they were so easy that I barely noticed them, but they certainly exist! Adding in the game's inclusion of an inventory screen, locked doors that need opening and general Action-Adventureness, I completely recant my suggestion that it be considered for the Shooter genre. Honestly I should have been suggesting Action-Adventure - [No Subgenre] from the beginning (the game is like a space-zombie Zelda title), but I'll let that argument drop until the next time I play through the game. Sorry for the bad idea! |
