Single image raises many questions
UPDATE
Epic Games' Director of Production, Rod Fergusson (@gearsviking), just tweeted to confirm that, with the announcement of the new Gears game, there will be no more DLC for Gears of War 3.
ORIGINAL STORY
In recent memory, when one has brought up the continuation of Epic's Gears of War franchise, the general wisdom was that with Gears of War 3 completing the Marcus story arc, the series was essentially done, or at least on long hiatus. In fact, at a PAX East panel, the sense was that Epic was happy to have seen Gears through to a reasonable conclusion and was anxiously looking forward to developing other projects, such as the upcoming Fortnite.
Whether or not this news is a surprise to you will really depend on how sincere you believe a developer is when they state that they're willing to put a key franchise on hold indefinitely. Today, Game Informer revealed the image of their upcoming July issue, and for Gear-heads everywhere, it's an exciting one.

Let the speculation begin! Who is the shadowy figure being escorted by what looks to be the Onyx Guard? Where are they headed to? Will this be a full retail title or an arcade? Will Kinect be involved, as it was supposed to be with their cancelled Gears of War: Exile? While we know it's in the Gears of War Universe, will the game actually include that in the title?
You have the weekend to place your bets and make your claims. More details will become available once the magazine is released on this coming Monday.

NICE! I think it's Griffon, but I guess letting Ice-T voice the main character for a full game could be a bit pricey... 
Ow, and its DEFINATELY NOT Marcus. He has a more round head, while this one looks to be more stretched (like Griffon). |

This either is Gears of War Exile, or some form of it.
Exile definition: 1. "expulsion from one's native land by authoritative decree."
Looks to be Marcus being carried away...perhaps a PRISON BREAK!? |

| If you subscribe to Epic on facebook, they have another article in which they show its a different protagonist. But if this is the prologue to D-day then that should be rather interesting although that might mean going back. |
