Yeah, let's play games with the controller in our left hand and the IPad in our right hand. Offcourse every developer will make this possible with their game. They all did all this great things with the Kinect, so this will be the Wii-U killer we all have been waiting for. End off sarcasm. |

It's clear that it isn't there for controller support aka Nintendo. The addition of iphone/android/WP7 support allow for the creation of apps that update in realtime.
Imagine a CoD Elite that's worth using? Bungie.net and Halo Waypoint?! Rockstar Social Club?!
I for one am excited about a FREE and OPTIONAL addition to my gaming peripherals. |

| Doesn't the Wii U have something like this? I haven't been following it recently but I swear I saw something about it earlier. |

KP ScuzzyBunny said:IMO, Nintendo is hating life right now, as this new "feature" almost completely makes Wii U obsolete before it even launched.Wii U is about new gaming experiences whereas the SmartGlass is just some weird connection-remote thing that may as well be used for touch inputs in games. If you saw what Wii U can do, that's nothing. The combination of Nintendo's peripherals offers way more gaming than MS's entertainment devices (phone, tablet, console connection).
But it's quite funny. MS had one year to copy what Sony did right away with their PSP-PS3-vision. The only bad thing about MS at the moment is the entertainment hype. As long as it's peripherals I don't have to buy it's all good. But as soon as the games begin to suffer from that or they force me to buy this and that with consoles or games I'm out. |

It's a nice feature and probably a lot of people will use it in some way or another. May sounded a bit harsh earlier, but after seeing the pressconference of MS, I was really disappointed. I have a XBox to play games on, and about 25% of the conference was about getting channel X,Y or Z added to your mediaplayer or about integration with other devices.
It started so good with Halo 4 and Splinter Cell, but after that the only highlights were Tomb Raider and Resident Evil Imo (don't like racing games, so I leave out Forza).
Was hoping for Fallout 4 or something completely new, but at the end we got Black Ops 2, which looked good, but I'm not a big fan of this franchise. |

But your statement sums it up better. Why would I use it? It's pointless for me. I have a right to state that. This is just Microsoft diversifying (ruining) the Xbox as a gaming console, it's becoming a media hub, I (like almost everyone with an Xbox) has Internet, I don't need it on my Xbox, I have devices for tv shows and music, I don't need it on my Xbox. There should be a way to just have an Xbox as a gaming console. Saying don't use it is a pathetic argument, it's not about whether or not I'm going to use it, it's the fact that Microsoft are giving us no choice about what we see on our dashboard. Social, tv and video all come before the games tab, that just shows how Xbox is being made into a general entertainment device instead of what it was made for. |

| In the press conference they made it sound as it you can use a smartphone as a keyboard input device for the 360, via this official app "Xbox Smartglass". This alone is worth it for me, this would be very convenient. |

I guess I see it as more of an OPTION that makes your gaming experience better...kind of like a racing fan who builds an extreme 3-screen set up to play Forza or Gran Tourismo. To me, being able to play a game and have a real-time map or even "friend hub" on the tablet/ phone on the coffee table would be nice. As far as the Wii U goes, I just don't see the difference as far as using touch screen controls in your lap/ hands to impact the TV, whether it be the Wii U controller or the W8 tablet/ phone....so what if there are buttons, you still have to stop pushing them to interface with the touchscreen. I honestly don't think the U controller is much more than a uDraw tablet (d-pad, wireless, buttons, accelerometer, touch interface) with a screen!
Like some others have said, I have a set up that incorporates a lot of this already. Nice graphics card lets me "surf" on the big screen, iPad to use apps while gaming/ watching tv, Blu-Ray apps give that same kind of info while the movie is playing, but I have no problem upgrading some gear in order to take advantage of something that will make everything work together even better. Please just keep "use tablet interface to____" achvs AWAY!
...some questions I didn't see an answer to is about these W8 tablets. Currently we have tablets that run W7, but if we see "W8 tablets" (proprietary, not a tablet running W8), will it have an XBL app store letting you play games from the WP7 library? Will WP8 run WP7 games? And of course, no word on the rumored demise of msp! |

You didn't indicate that it was your personal opinion until later. Second, despite saying it's pointless for you and that you have a right to say that, you insist on making blanket statements like "almost everyone with an Xbox" and "it's not about whether or not I'm going to use it".
Face it, you're a troll. Instead of saying "eh, that's not for me" and moving on, you continue to rant and rave. Not that I care, but let's not beat around the bush. |

Honestly I think its a valid argument for people to want to customize their dashboard. I mean if you're never going to use HBO Go or Espn, why should you have to look at tabs or advertisements for it all the time, or view advertisements for movies or music that you'll never watch or listen to? Some people just want to game and/or download DLC or arcade games, and it is fairly annoying when your speed is somewhat slowed by things that are loading in the background that you don't even want there.
As for WiiU, I really don't see why people are comparing this announcement to the Wii U. Nintendo continues to be a major player primarily because of 1st party software, something you will never find on another console. They could surely use some improvement when it comes to 3rd parties, but sometimes I think it comes down to developers not wanting to use resources trying to innovate on Nintendo's hardware when the returns are questionable. |

| This just seems so overkill to me. When does it stop? Why can't we just watch a TV show using one device? I don't need to see where on the map some dude is while I'm watching Game of Thrones. It's just ridiculous. |

| So uh, at any point does Microsoft plan to release console hardware that isn't a piece of shit, won't red ring, open tray error, or burst into flames when I have the audacity to play a fucking game on it? Or are we all simply content with the 360's horrible track record and like all the random squeaky toys they're taping onto it alongside streaming video ads? |
