Vorpal Smilodon has just submitted some Game Info for Shoot Many Robots:

Genre change from Action to Role-Playing
Sub Genre change from Run & Gun to Dungeon Crawler

Vorpal Smilodon said:The predominant gameplay element of Dungeon Crawlers is the chase for better and better loot gained from exploring dungeons and slaying monsters. Levelling your character and gaining skills is a means to increase your combat abilities and advance ever deeper into the dungeon where more and better loot can be found.I feel like I've mentioned this before, but searching the forums shows no trace of any such discussion...
Killing robots earns experience, leveling your character up - increasing hit points and the grade of equipment you can use. The gameplay is entirely about killing robots, grinding up levels to be able to do the later levels, and repeating levels in the hopes of getting better loot to drop.

This is not an RPG, it is a Run & Gun. Yes there is a big amount of loot involved in the game but from what I understand that loot is not endless, once you finally pick up every weapon/clothing piece then all you gain is money. Secondly, yes you gain levels as you play but there is no character development or stat distribution upon levelling up. The games genre should and most likely stay as it is.
