Game and achievement stats for TA members for last month
It seems odd writing about stats the day just after E3. It feels like the games listed here are preserved in amber like some sort of prehistoric mosquito. Amazingly enough, the following stats are so varied in terms of when each game was released, that May 2012 will look like a time capsule.
Let's take a walk down memory lane shall we?
This report is for the period May 1st to May 31st 2012.
Games Started
79,514 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 196,679 games between them (1,815 different games).
The four of the top five were released in May, with Sniper Elite V2 exceeding the expectations of the TA Stats Committee (of One). All of the other titles stretch back to September of last year, which speaks volumes about the quality of releases over the past ten months.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning made the chart which strikes me as morbid. Did all the talk of 38 Studios being shut down drive people to pick it up as a show of support? Was there a sale somewhere I don't know about? Did Curt Schilling create 829 accounts on TA?
Resident Evil: Op. Raccoon City came out in March? Of this year? Wow, I forgot all about that game.
Top Retail Games Started
This chart features an amazing rise, by an amazing game. One of these games is clearly an XBLA game for the ages and will be remembered forever by future generations of gamers. The design, graphics, music and gameplay are all testaments to the greatness of the video game medium. Everyone that played this game has been part of history.
I am talking about Bloodforge.
In non-sarcastic commentary, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition will wind up breaking 50k total gamers. One sale, one week of an 800 MSP price point, is all it will take to get over 20k more gamers.
Top Arcade Games Started
I used to think Max & the Magic Marker (WP) was a video game adaptation of Harold and his Purple Crayon. Sadly, I was wrong, but Max & the Magic Marker still stands as another great name for a game.
Do any completionists out there feel the need to remind people that Angry Birds (WP) is a very long, very tough completion? I'm always amused in my friend feed when someone has every achievement except one. You know the one they don't have yet.

Games Completed
25,163 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 50,575 games between them (1,523 different games).
Remember what I said about this month being a bizarre time capsule? Ladies, gentlemen and ponies, Assassin's Creed II. Some more information that will make you feel old real quick, Borderlands is actually older. I know, Borderlands is older then you thought.
Regarding recent titles, Prototype 2 is blowing away every other recent release. We have enough evidence now to state that Prototype 2 is one of the easiest Sandbox completions available to date.
Top Retail Games Completed
The Walking Dead is enough of a hit that by now, I'm anxiously waiting for the next episode. Will Episode 2 cause the numbers for Episode 1 to spike upwards?
Other then the juggernauts at the top of this list, the XBLA chart is proof that yes, Gamerscore contests are still going on around us. Why else would Daytona USA, Dead Rising 2: Case Zero and Harm's Way be on this chart?
Top Arcade Games Completed
Collapse! (WP) my old foe, welcome back. I see you are only at a 92.54% completion rate. 192 gamers started you, but did not finish you. In related news, 192 gamers are lazy.
Feed Me Oil (WP) recently received a patch making one of the achievements significantly easier, as in, it will actually pop when you earn it now. As a result, the latest physics puzzler for the WP has nearly a hundred additional completions in the last few days, ensuring that it will chart again next month.
Top Windows Phone Games Completed
Achievements Won
110,738 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 3,677,066 achievements online between them (55,847 different achievements).
I love this mix of achievements from three separate titles. The top three retail titles all charted down here, though I do feel the need to point out how all three of them are Shooters.
Top Retail Achievements Won
Words can not describe this chart. Every single achievement available in Minecraft managed to make it onto this chart.
Top Arcade Achievements Won
Amazingly, the WP chart shows less variety than the Retail chart. I would not be shocked to see both of these games show up again next month.
Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
With only one recent retail release that was not a shooter, this chart was never in doubt. Minecraft is no longer able to keep Simulation up on its own, leading to a slow, steady decline for one of the least popular genres.
