TA now in Read Only mode for a couple of hours
Hi there
as we told you here, this morning we are upgrading the TA database servers.
So that the site is not completely offline during this time, I have made some changes to allow the site to function but also prevent any new data being added (and therefore lost during the move).
That means for the next 5 hours or so you won't be able to add any comments, forum posts, gaming sessions etc. And if you do manage to find a way to add any data, it will be lost - so please don't try.
The scanners will also be off during this time, and registration is closed.
I'll update this post with progress, or you can follow our Twitter feed where we'll also keep you updated.

Update: The move is completed. Just over 4 hours in total, and hopefully you'll notice the speed increase!

| There's the Ghost Rider rollover ad on the side.... and an alienware one...and there was one I think for a deodorant.... Everytime I tried to navigate the site my mouse would rollover them and they'd take up the whole page... ad's are fine.. its how you make money so I support that.. just drop the ones that get in the way of the average user. |

And in record time, too! Good job!
As for the ads... I don't mind the normal ads, but TA is the ONLY entry in my ABP whitelist, and rollover-to-expand ads are almost enough for me to revoke that. The only one I'm aware of at the moment is BT Infinity 2, which is 50/50 with click-to-expand and rollover-to-expand. It doesn't take up the whole screen, so I can bear it, but they are damned annoying. |
