Hey Guys, Now i'm not sure if anyone has done this in the thread but if not..YAY ME!! But seriously i wanted to see if there are any sort of like game collectors on TA. If so do you have tips for anyone that wants to start? I want to try and collect some games from my past like the N64, Dreamcast, and Gamecube and maybe might get some collectible items as well along the way. But anyway i wanted to just make this thread just to see if anyone has some cool stories or if they found something awesome for their collection and stuff and i think that would be really cool. Even pictures would be cool too! |

| Does not selling on my xbox 360 games count as collecting them? Haha. I'd like to be a collector of games. |

| I used to have a working version of at least one of almost every console but I moved most for the space saving an Odyssey 100 and 200, a Fairchild VES, a Famicom and a Pippin. They currently reside in unused obscurity in a storage locker. |

I try and keep a fairly tight collection of games over a variety of consoles but I still have probably 80-100 games about the house at the moment. I very recently dug out my GBA, Dreamcast and PSOne, all of which are able to play imports, and I am moving to a bigger house next week. I think I am going to start slowly buying up some of my all time favourites on those consoles and get them set up in the spare room. I would love to get hold of the following:
DC: Record of Lodoss War Mars Matrix Gigawing 1 + 2 Gunbird 2 Skies of Arcadia
PS1: DoDonPachi Wild ARMs 2 SaGa games Possibly something SMT
GBA: Golden Sun Advanced Wars Astro Boy
As for current collections, as you can see I like RPGs and Shooters mainly and I have a very good but incomplete 360 RPG collection as well as all the PAL region shmups and a couple of imports. I am also working up a pretty nice PSP RPG collection. |

I've got loads but sadly have no pictures of current looks. Really need to take some. I'm up to 38 consoles (19 different ones, some of the remaining 19 are from other regions, the rest is real double ones) and don't know about the games. I'm a lot into Dreamcast which is why I ended up going Xbox I think. Still play Dreamcast as if it was a current gen machine.
"If so do you have tips for anyone that wants to start?" If someone wants to get into the big names of gaming, SNES is a good start but gets expensive pretty fast when you want to go for the real great games. For me it will always be Dreamcast. Not many games in the PAL region but a big part of those 216 games are awesome. And not too expensive unless you go for the biggest names. |

| Evenger, I'm in PAL as well. Do you have a full list of the 216 released games in this region? Maybe even point out those that are worth noticing? I already have a DreamCast and copy of Veronica Code X (which sadly is scratched). |

As far as "worth noticing" goes, I actually think there are only few games that are useless. But I'm a fanboy so don't mark my words. Dreamcast was about arcade and getting other gamers who are not really into arcade into the boat with the simple porting of PC games etc. So you got quite a variety but it's a lot arcade-ish stuff.
Here's a list of what people tend to name as must-haves for Dreamcast: Chu Chu Rocket Crazy Taxi Grandia II House of the Dead (multiplayer and lightguns only ;)) Jet Set Radio Metropolis Street Racer (if you like PGR) Phantasy Star Online (you could still play it online if you prefer) Powerstone (2) (never played it) Rayman (if you like) REZ Samba de Amigo (expensive and rare if you want the motion controls) Shenmue Skies of Arcadia (a little more expensive) Space Channel 5
This is like the crème de la crème of Dreamcast games - so do not ignore the others. (don't blame me if I forgot some) Also, take a look at the genres. Might help you finding out what you'd like. Again, I can't really help here because I dislike RPGs pretty much but love the ones I have played on Dreamcast so far.
You wouldn't want to miss Japanese Dreamcast games, though. If you like the arcades and craziness of Dreamcast / Japan.
Collecting PAL can be a hazzle. Cases break quickly so be sure to ask sellers about details. The pins that hold the discs break quickly. etc. If you want UK only releases, it might get expensive for some games. I go for every language version that was released, though. So even more work haha
Also, keep in mind you can play a lot of games in 60Hz and try to get a VGA box. With VGA Dreamcast games look really nice despite their age and you can even pump it up to 1080p with good hardware (I know it's still VGA, just upscaled, but it looks nice). But only freaks do that ;) |

Thanks for the input.
We already have Chu CHu Rocket for DreamCast, I have Crazy Taxi on XBLA (played this one on big arcade machines), House of the Dead and Jet Set Radio should be out as downloadable, have Rayman on PS1 and Phantasy Star Isn't really me (played the very first one on SMS and I was too young at the time and didn't get the concept).
I live in Denmark, so I should be able to get stuff from Germany of it's making it any easier. PS1 boxes has the same problem with easily being broken - I had a good haul the other day in a thrift store.
For original Xbox Toca Race Driver
For PS1 Tomb Raider Tomb Raider 2 Tomb Raider 3 O.D.T Power Soccer Duke Nukem Time to Kill Trasher Skate and Destroy Rainbow Six: Lonewolf
This was my very first somewhat good haul as far as game collecting goes. |

I didn't understand the old Phantasy Star games as well :D
Just took pictures that don't tell much. Most games are "hidden" behind others and only a small part of what is in this room. Not enough space until I'm done studying and can afford a real flat.
