Formula One and Indy 500 fans rejoice!
Recently, Slightly Mad Studios announced that Project CARS will feature no less than ten iconic Lotus race cars thanks in part to a new partnership with Classic Team Lotus. The ten Classic Lotus Race Cars that will featured in Project CARS are: 1962 Lotus 25 (Formula One car) 1965 Lotus 40 (open-top sports car) 1965 Lotus 38 (Indy 500 winner) 1967 Lotus 49 (Formula One car) 1970 Lotus 49C (Formula One car) 1967 Lotus 51 (Formula Ford car) 1968 Lotus 56 (Indy Car) 1970 Lotus 72 (Formula One car) 1977 Lotus 78 (Formula One car) 1986 Lotus 98T (Formula One car)
The successful racing heritage of Team Lotus will live on in Project CARS as the title will allow players to experience some of Lotus’ most spectacular and accomplished race cars that have been competing in series around the world. The selection includes cars that won multiple Formula One constructors’ and drivers’ championships as well as the prestigious Indy 500. The chosen cars also highlight Lotus’ striving towards innovation as some of the models introduced groundbreaking new technologies such as monocoques, ground effect aerodynamics and turbine engines. Unfortunately, we do not have screenshots for these racing icons as of yet. As soon as they are released you better believe we will be putting them on display here at TA, so stay tuned.
Currently, Project Cars is being developed and released for the PC in 2013. Slightly Mad Studios hopes to bring the game to the Xbox 360 shortly afterwards. |

I say sponsored, the deal was cancelled sometime around April.
To those who may also be confused. Tony Fernandes 'bought' the Lotus name, and came into F1, Group Lotus didn't like that so decided to sponsor Renault which was at the time owned by an Investment Bank (still is), Group Lotus sued Lotus for control of the Lotus name and won, few months later Group Lotus are no longer sponsoring (renault) Lotus but Lotus (renault) will be keeping the name, for now. |

MH The Rockstar said:I get the feeling the PC version will far out perform the 360 version.Good point MH. Hopefully the performance difference between the PC and Xbox 360 versions will only be in the graphical department. Can't see why there would be a difference in car physics since it's the same game engine running in these 2 platforms. The gameplay will be what matters most to me anyways.
I've already made me mind up, day one purchase. MIght even grab the PC version while waiting upon the Xbox 360 release date. Everything I have read/seen about Project CARS so far has blown my mind !! |

| would be good if one of these was the 6 wheel F1 car, not sure what year that was lol, played a little bit of the Alpha release on my PC and have to say it feels really good, i would compare it to the handling model of Grid (which i like), recent screenshots ive seen show the graphics have improved since i played it too |

The six wheeled f1 car was developed by Tyrrell and raced in 1976, it would be great to have that in a game as well as the 1978 Brabham "fancar".
As above Lotus Renault is owned by a bank and only had Lotus as a sponser, not as a manufacturer of the car. That sponsership deal has been cancelled as previously mentioned but the lotus name remains as you can't change a team names during the season.
Tony Fernandes bought the right to use the Team Lotus name from the original Lotus F1 team (as the cars being used in this upcoming game are from). Group lotus challenged this in court, in the meantime Fernandes purchased the Caterham car company which has links to Lotus from developing and still building the Caterham 7 which is based on the old Lotus 7
Fernandes then decided to change the Team Lotus name to Caterham for the F1 team this year stop the confusion between the teams and steamline the company from karting (next year) to customer cars, trackday cars, the gp2 team and the f1 team. The Caterham company is probably now stronger than the Lotus company it used to be a dealer for. |

Ah the Indy 500. The only race that can make F1 seem interesting.
My brother has owned 3 real Lotus cars in the past. And everyone was shite. |

Didn't realise that how foolish for not realising that Genii Capital (investment bank) bought the team from them and then took on SPONSORSHIP from Lotus. There is a huge difference between Sponsorship and Ownership which some here seem not to get.
I can't see this ever making it onto consoles though. Assuming this will go the way of rFactor, mods will be everything, we will never experience them. |
