Latest weekly game and achievement stats for TA members
We are now officially in a post-E3 world. The stats this week represent what people were playing at home while drooling over the hot new games of next year, such as Hitman: Absolution, Halo 4, Dead Space 3 and Dance Central 3. What did people play at home while wishing we had Gears of War: Judgment in our hands RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE!?
Nothing.
At least, very little. This is a week of tiny numbers with one number so small, so depressing, it's not actually on the chart and has to be some sort of record.
This report is for the period June 4th to June 10th 2012.
Games Started 16,316 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 25,093 games between them (1,570 different games).
Let's talk about this new record established by the TA community right now. There WAS a new retail game released last week, two of them in fact! Both of them failed to make the chart. Madagascar 3: The Video Game has, as of June 14th, only been played by 137 gamers. Inversion, my pick for the sleeper hit of the year, is just asleep. Only 258 gamers have picked up the latest from Namco-Bandai. Most of those didn't pick it up until June 12th, leaving it off this chart and contributing to a disaster of a first week.
Other then the two notable absences, the rest of the chart is what we'd expect to see. On the bright side, next week we all get to suck on a lollipop.
Top Retail Games Started
Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is at the top of the charts! Oh wait, no sorry, it's just right behind Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Still getting started by over 500 gamers is a good debut for one of the more niche fighting series out there.
Fellow debut title, Bang Bang Racing, got off to a slow, plodding start and barely moved from the starting line. As of June 14th, it has only climbed up to 148 gamers. Don't be alarmed by the sudden appearance of Boulder Dash-XL, which was recently on sale.
Top Arcade Games Started
I typically don't mention the WP games that often, but let's just say, I'll be discussing this chart in great detail next week. For now, just know that Battleship (WP) has been played by only 50% of the gamers that played Battleship.
Top Windows Phone Games Started
Games Completed 6,494 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,120 games between them (1,155 different games).
You ever get a strange sense of deja vu? Which sadly, is not because someone ported Deja Vu to the 360. This sense of deja vu is because I swear this chart has barely any movement on it from last week.
Top Retail Games Completed
One week in and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is a proven easy completion. Already 46.17% of those that started the game have finished it, most of those accomplished the feat in one day. The Walking Dead is hanging around still like a.....something that should have gone away awhile ago but is still present....there's some sort of word for beings like that....Ah! Got it! In-laws!
Top Arcade Games Completed
Just as predicted last week, Feed Me Oil (WP) has reappeared towards the top of the chart. It's always odd when the latest WP title doesn't make the chart at all. Battleship (WP) is nowhere to be found. Almost as if someone sunk it.
Top Windows Phone Games Completed
Achievements Won 46,007 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 549,992 achievements online between them (43,890 different achievements).
On a side note, has anyone bothered to read Tom Clancy novels lately? When I first met my future wife, I was reading the giant hardcover version of Red Rabbit outside of our campus' dining commons. That was the last Clancy novel I ever read despite being obsessed with them during high school. I'll politely say that his writing was moving south and that caused me to move on to other authors.
Top Retail Achievements Won
Notch has 99 problems but his bank account ain't one.
Top Arcade Achievements Won
MonstaFish (WP) vs. Battleship (WP). It's a SyFy movie just waiting to happen.
Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Since the current stats are so unexciting, let's get rolling with this week's Stats FLASHBACK.
The following stats are from June 6th to June 12th of 2011. Since this week's stats were rather bland, what follows is actually all-new commentary:
29,000 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 53,748 games between them (1,339 different games).
The above stat is a bit misleading, as it actually counted all Retail and XBLA titles for one number.
Last year Duke Nukem Forever happened and for those glorious first few weeks, none of us really knew any better. I also made the comment last year that "we now live in a world where Duke Nukem Forever beat Half-Life: Episode 3 to retail." A full 365 days later, and Duke Nukem Forever received DLC while the latest Half-Life will finally hit retail so that my grandkids can play it.
I don't have any children.
Top Retail Games Started
Remember E3 last year? The hot new thing was the Kinect Fun Labs series of free apps with gamerscore? Amazing what a difference one year and dozens of poorly received apps can make.
Top Arcade Games Started
6,341 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 9,974 games between them (912 different games).
Just in case you forgot, once upon a time, LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean was a hot ticket item. I am also amused by Brink appearing again. Do you know almost 30,000 gamers have started that title? Why?
Top Retail Games Completed
56,364 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 784,388 achievements online between them (36,781 different achievements).
It was around this time that TrueAchievement and I realized the TA Stats articles were popular enough to warrant changing the format. It would still be a few more weeks before the new (now current) format would be utilized.

| Not surprised to see Inversion doing poorly when they can't be bothered to release it outside of the US.When we finally get it in the UK the online will be all but dead. |

It was smooth sailing, until MonstaFish (WP) vs. Battleship (WP). It's a SyFy movie just waiting to happen. After that, it's all italics, all the time... what the deuce? |

Good stats as usual! I'm working through my backlog before the end of the month, playing GTA4, Force Unleashed, etc.
Then an open world Lego game and a new impressive looking Beenox game staring my all time favorite super hero come out, and it'll be on to the new! |

| I'm getting back into it after not playing my Xbox for the past year so I'm constantly being impressed with all the improvements and additions to the site. Great work! |

| You would've think during a very slow stat week, the Party genre would be on the charts via my achievement hunting on Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader: Game Time, but that is sadly not the case. |

| Inversion isn't THAT bad. But thanks to TA I got it for $20, which makes the game a smidge easier to accept. |

| I keep promising myself that I'll start Skyrim some time soon, but will hold off until I finish the Orange Box and Prototype 1. I am surprised to still see Fallout NV on the charts. |

Also, thanks to the community members that alerted me as to exactly why Inversion is doing horrible (even post Best Buy sale). I just watched the Giant Bomb Quick Look, and was SHOCKED~! at how much it's a Gears of War clone. Straight up clone. Lutadores? That's the name for the very Locust looking evil guys? Lutadores?
Only 389 gamers have played it as of 11 PM EST on Sunday. |
