Much closer than you think
When you've been scouring the internet for thousands of years such as I have, you'll come to find that opinions on most games are usually polarized. The one thing I have seen gamers come to a nearly unanimous agreement on, however, would be the ending to Mass Effect 3. The extreme lack of closure, the plot holes, the contradictions... the everything. When BioWare announced the "Extended Cut" DLC a couple months ago, the polarized opinions began to show up in force. Some felt like the ending was beyond repair and this was just wasted time and resources, while others felt a tiny glimmer of hope. Regardless of opinion, "Extended Cut" has been given a firm release date. Bioware has also taken some time to answer general questions about the new content:
How much is the Extended Cut? The Extended Cut is available to download at no additional charge.
When does the Extended Cut release? The Extended Cut will release on June 26th on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 in North America and July 4th for PlayStation 3 in Europe.
How large is the Extended Cut? The Extended Cut requires roughly 1.9 gigabytes of storage.
How do I get the Extended Cut? The Extended Cut can be downloaded from Xbox LIVE, Origin on PC, and PlayStation Network at no additional cost.
What is included in the Extended Cut? The Extended Cut expands on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences. It provides more of the answers and closure that players have been asking for. It gives a sense of what the future holds as a result of the decisions made throughout the series. And it shows greater detail in the successes or failures based on how players achieved their endings.
Does the Extended Cut change the endings? The Extended Cut is an expansion of the original endings to Mass Effect 3. It does not fundamentally change the endings, but rather it expands on the meaning of the original endings, and reveals greater detail on the impact of player decisions.
What save game should I load to play the Extended Cut? [SPOILERS] To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game. The Extended Cut endings will differ depending on choices made throughout the Mass Effect series, so multiple playthroughs with a variety of different decisions will be required to experience the variety of possibilities offered by the new content.
Where can I learn more about the Extended Cut? To learn more about the Extended Cut, please enjoy the Extended Cut interview podcast with Community Manager Jessica Merizan, Executive Producer Casey Hudson, and Lead Writer Mac Walters. There you have it, Mass Effect fans. The time is near, very near. For those interested in the interview mentioned in the last questions, you can check it out by watching the video below:

Just as a recap, "Extended Cut" will be available June 26th for those in North America and Europe at a whopping price of zero Microsoft Points. Make sure you have 1.9GB of hard drive space left, and if you deleted your save files, now would be a good time to start up a new one and do a speedrun! Now, we must part ways, but not without one more gift!

| I'm not gonna lie. I just sat through the entire interview and not once did they mention any of the plot holes and contradictions, which was the fans main issue with the ending. If you're looking for them to admit to any of the "crimes" they've committed in the interview, your attention is better spent elsewhere. |

| After listening to the interview, it sounds like we'll still be in the dark concerning the "Indoctrination Theory". Nonetheless, I'm very excited for this. |

A turd is still a turd, no matter how much you polish it.
The ending needs to be scrapped altogether. The God Child breaks the game in multiple ways. |

| Too little..... too late.....with glitches and freezing in the game plus with an unaspiring & terrible ending ...I truly believe this game was rushed and not 100% finished for the March release date. |

| Should we pick a save after we finished the game and once again have to attack Cerberus Headquarters or should we try to find a save before we did the final push the first time? |

| Y'know, I might just wait for a Youtube video. I don't really have a desire to play through the ending again. |

Did you read the article...?Yes I did. I don't know if I have a save now for the second scenario so I'm trying to see how far back I have to go.
Edit: nevermind. Found a save. |

All of you not liking that Bioware is releasing an extended cut, for the fans no less, are completely unappreciative. Bioware already stated, way back in March, that they werent going to change the ending and that there were going to give more detail on how all of our choices affected the ending of the game so I don't know what all of you complainers are babbling about. Unless, in fact, you're all just that obnoxious to not read anything about the "Extended Cut" until now and have your reactions be as they are.
If you loved/liked the Mass Effect series and totally disowned the 3rd installment because it's the ending you didn't interpret then I'm ashamed to call myself a gamer and you should to. |

Caxton8 said:You know what, I actually loved the original ending. There was nothing wrong with it and that's my opinionI wholeheartedly agree! I saw the whole game of Mass Effect 3 as the ending to the series, not just the final cut-scenes. Whilst the final cut-scenes were not as dramatic as I had hoped for, I was satisfied with the conclusion to the story. |
