Good day ladies, gentlemen, internet forum trolls:
Behold, the Wii U appears to be Nintendo's vehicle for the introduction of an Achievements system.
If they do introduce such a system, and it is numerical in nature similar to GamerScore - is that an opportunity for another stats-heavy website like TrueAchievements? www.trueaccomplishments.blogspot.tumblr.digg.com/creedthoughts/ |

| Personally think its unlikely given the fact that the truetrophies idea never really got underway despite all the interest in it. |

Dakota, as the tt thread (that I started a few years ago) concluded, it's Sony blocking the scanners, and the tt.com idea being closed because of that.
Nintendo SHOULD force an all-game achievement/medals/accomplishment system, and they have said that developers can include it in their games, but they won't enforce it. IMO stupidest idea of the century. I still want the console though. When depends on how many exclusive titles will hit it.
Yes, this could be a very cool idea - a TrueNetwork as I've said before on the site somewhere. |

How are Sony blocking scanners when other sites can read out the data? (yeah I could read the topic but there's so many posts ...) |

| Raptr for instance, is asking directly for your PSN login and makes use of that. TA doesn't. |

I have it pre-ordered and will go for accomplishments. But I fear Nintendo won't have proper websites to view or Grab accomplishments data.
Playfire can track my trophies without my PSN login data. |

The accomplishments will be on a game by game basis as Nintendo doesn't want to force developers to have them and "tell gamers how to play". Personally, I'd love an overarching "achievement"-like system since the more I read about it... the more appealing the Wii U is looking. Since there isn't one, it'll probably just be in-game stuff and nothing linked to your account/profile on the console.
That being said... maybe it'd be nice to just play games again, and not give a shit about achievements. |

Yes that's right, Nintendo has let devs choose. An interesting approach. Surely accomplishments will be account linked? Part of Miiverse? This suggests sharing your accomplishments on Miiverse.
And yes, quite recently I stopped caring about my personal xbox achievements and gamerscore, and started to play mostly for fun - recently I got this challenging Batman achievement, but doing so was fun rather than a grind. So yeah, it would be nice to just play games again. |
