| I downloaded the Hearthfire DLC today, went to look up how to get land, and it said I have to wait for a courier. I've been sitting for 2 irl hours, and waited days in skyrim time, even "waited" in game, nothing is working. Any ideas? |

Where are you waiting at? The courier approached me while I was walking around Falkreath.
Also not sure if this is a factor or not, but you might have to be the Jarl's Thane before land is offered to you. |

| I've tried in Whiterun and Falkreath. I thought I was a Thane for the Whiterun Jarl, I may be mistaken though. |

Yes almost every Jarl has some sort of quest to become their Thane.

Does that mean I just talk to the Jarl, instead of getting a courier? |

| I had 1 letter from a courier about adopting a child. nothing on buying land and I wasn't thate in one of the 3 holds. Maybe if your thane in any 1 of the holds you don't get a letter at all |
