Not too sure what's going on here, but has anyone else had this issue? I signed up for Shift found under Extras in the game's main menu. Supposedly this will make special content available. So after accepting the terms of use and such, it sends you an email with a link asking you to confirm your Shift acct, and the game is now waiting for me to enter a code which I'm presumably to recieve from the Shift website. After following the link in the email and confirming my acct..... no code is provided of any kind by the Shift website. There is an option to link my Shift acct with my xbox live acct, but it says "cannot be linked at this time."
So what is up with this? I'd like to think this problem is temporary or that the codes are just not available to anyone yet.. but from looking around online in other random forums, it seems some people have had no problem getting codes from Shift,, while some others, like me, are having no luck getting this elusive code.... |

Bit of an update... What I described above was last night. So I popped Borderlands 2 in just now, went back to Shift in the game's menu, and signed in. It's still waiting for me to enter a code provided by the Shift website, so I went there, signed in... and it now says my xbox live acct is linked. Still no code though. No hints, or any kind of further direction on the site. |

If you read the text before you signed up you'd know that it's not meant to just give you a code. It's basically Gearbox's way of giving people codes for their game without making specific Xbox, Playstation, and PC codes. It's the same concept as "redeem code" on Xbox Live, just FOR GearBox Software.
Now the question is; how do you get this codes? I'd assume by kissing a** on Gearbox forums... |

No problem. I don't think you're given a code for signing up as it never said anything about it.
I do believe signing up gives you an extra gold key though. Not sure, but I think so. I had two keys for whatever reason. |

After reading several threads on GBS' forums, you do not get a code for signing up. Just the golden key (which you don't need to redeem at all).
Still looking at how to earn them. Really don't want to start posting on their forums again and having 20 people butthurt because I don't own a $5k computer which apperantley means I'm "not a real gamer". (Sorry, unrelated rant). |

| I have a slightly different problem. I signed up, and did get the golden key, but whenever I click the confirm link from the email they sent me, it's not a working site. Not like it isn't letting me in or anything. Like it doesn't exist. |

They responded with "don't worry, if you got the key your account was created."
Not too reassuring but I hope that helps. There was nothing to the site anyways. |

Weird. Can't help but be reminded of that stupid chicken suit that was supposed to be found in the guild chest in Fable 2 after playing the minigame on fable2.com,,, the site said I earned the prizes, but the chest in game just never opened. Getting back to Borderlands 2,, I may have been a bit distracted when playing co-op with my friend, but the gold key chest in Sanctuary,, did that take 1 or 2 gold keys to open? Because we opened it, but too quickly for me to notice how many keys it was asking for, or whether the key(s) needed were mine or if my friend spent one, or even had one to begin with. He's not the type to really care about this stuff.. |

| It only takes one key to open, and it doesn't warn you AT ALL. Even me who's had the mind set of "don't open the gold chest in Sanctuary" for a week before playing went and opened it without paying attention. I didn't even realize it until I was looking at purple weapons like "oh crap". |

| You won't get a code just for registering. That has been confirmed by Gearbox. |

Whatever Gearbox wants it to do. You have to earn codes from them / their community. No one knows how or what they do yet.
There won't be just one code & there won't be one for registering. I can confirm that. |

| My advice to you guys is to follow @DuvalMagic on Twitter - that's the account of Randy Pitchford, the CEO of Gearbox. He's been tweeting Shift Codes that you can enter from the Extras->Shift Code section of the game menu. Apparently there's more codes coming this weekend. |

| He was tweeting "test codes". @GearboxSoftware should be the ones to start tweeting them. |
