Konami announced today that the sequel to their 2006 hack-and-slash title, Ninety-Nine Nights, would be hitting store shelves worldwide on June 29th this year.
A little blurb about the game from Konami:
* Encounter Massive Epic Battles: Staying true to its predecessor, N3II will pit players against hundreds of enemies on screen for some of the most prolific 'Hack & Slash' gameplay to date! * Enjoy Dramatic Visual Upgrades: Improved graphical presentation on the Xbox 360 featuring more enemies on screen, over-the-top destruction (Orb Attack), and uncompromised levels of violence including a blood camera system. * Select from a Multitude of Fighting Styles and Weaponry: Campaign with various characters, each equipped with customizable weaponry/accessories allowing for enhanced combo attacks and features that progressively change enemy battles. * Form Alliances in Online Co-Op: Combat relentless enemies with a friend in fully supported online Co-Op play for 2 players via Xbox LIVE. You can also download the demo from the Xbox Live Marketplace here: http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/games/media/66acd000-77fe-...

| I would've thought the sequel to Ninety-Nine Nights would've been A Hundred Nights. |

| The demo is pretty fun, but the graphics and gameplay really haven't been improved that much from the first game. Considering its been four years since the original, I have to wonder where the development time for this game has gone to. |

Also to the poster somewhere above me asking about the checkpoint system, it seems that there still isn't one. I died on the demo and had to restart the whole fucking mission. |

| Maybe the graphics suck because it's a budget game? I honestly don't know if the first one was, but it couldn't of sold enough to warrent a sequel in the works untill a year or two ago. |

Hopefully there is more than 10 achievements that end up being grindfests. Also more playable characters. I'm sure it isn't that hard to make a character playable, specially ones with almost all the animations already there (like Dwikfario) |

Played the first game for two hours and hated it. The lack of a checkpoint system pissed me off to no end. However, with online co-op coming it might be worth it to try the first again.
Dynasty/Samurai Warriors will always be better, though. Those series have had a lot of time to perfect gameplay, story, etc. The Ninety-Nine Nights series will never measure up, in my opinion. |

Back on subject, I always heard that the first one of this wasn't so great. I guess I should rent it and find out for myself. |

I played the demo this morning, wasn't bad but still had a few of the same problems that the first game had. Go out, kill 62 millions things to charge your orb spark gauge up, activate it, and exactly 3 frames *before* everything was scheduled to die you'd get a cutscene and nothing would happen. RWAR.
Apart from that though I heartily approve the spell/ability system over the utterly useless button combo system from the first game. I couldn't get half of them to work, even though they tell you exactly what to do in the menu.
Not sure if I'll buy this on release but I'll definitely pick it up at some point.
On a slightly related note I just got 1000/1000 in N3, like as of 5 minutes ago. Whee! :P |

N3 was fun for about an hour at a time, i'd have been very disappointed if i'd paid much for it, but as i got it for £10 i think it was pretty good. Checkpoints weren't really an issue for me, although it would be nice to be able to save midway through a mission when you've simply had enough. I'll probably rent NNN2 as i can't see it being worth the RRP |
