Confused Shelf - Anyone want to team up and play either Crackdown or Dead Rising: Case West? Two fairly quick co-op achievements.

Contains MASSIVE MW2 Spoilers!

So I was watching a whole bunch of films during the holidays, one of which was "The Rock" starring Sean Connery and Nicholas Cage. The film wasn't to bad all though it was nothing special. Anyway, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between the events in both the film and the MW2 level The Gulag.

A group of marines infiltrate a hijacked, decommissioned prison to save America. Captain Price is clearly a reference to Sean Connery, the British SAS agent and both the game and the film feature a large firefight in the old showers. I could go further and say that the planes at the end of The Rock that open fire despite being told not to is parodied by the Navy in MW2.

Everyone knows that games are full of references to films. Hell, pretty much every FPS has a reference to Aliens somewhere in there. I just didn't think that someone would base an entire level around a film. And its not like the film isn't well known. Produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay as well as starring some fairly big names.

Call Of Duty has a habit of referencing films and literature.
Play COD:Classic, World At War, and 2 then watch "Enemy At The Gates"...!
If you play multiplayer on Modern Warfare 2 you should notice references to "WarGames"and "Fight Club"...
I am a cynic, so it becomes a challenge every day to be happy for once.

My gamerpicture is rumored to be a possible reference to Fight Club because it looks very similar to the logo. It's also an emblem in multiplayer. So it wouldn't surprise me if The Gulag is based off of The Rock.

Right at the start of COD4 Gaz says "I like to keep this for close encounters" as he pulls out a shotgun. A reference to Pvt. Hudson from Aliens as he takes out a shotgun after they have their ammo taken away, just before he shoots Frost off a balcony. lol
