But it's not a delay...

In an incredibly rare move, IO Interactive today announced that their upcoming Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has already gone gold, and will now release a week earlier than previously scheduled! The game is now set for release on August 17th in North America and August 20th through Europe and PAL territories.

IO's general manager Niels Jørgensen had the following to say about the change:
“The team has worked hard to deliver a game that’s different from the current trend of third-person shooters and we’re so pleased to be able to share it with the world ahead of schedule. With development now complete, why keep people waiting any longer? We want to let gamers experience the game we’ve created and get them online betraying their friends in Fragile Alliance, so we have decided to bring the release date forward by one week.”On top of that, they've released a new multiplayer trailer for the game:

If that wasn't enough, IO Interactive also announced that if you pre-order the game you'll receive "the exclusive Radio Tower multi-player map, seven new multi-player weapons and eight Chinese costume masks to hide your criminal identity." Don't worry though, that isn't just one specific store, and should be available at "all good retailers." Not you, Zavvi.

A week early! Woo!

Finally, it's been confirmed that the currently exclusive, code-only-access demo for the game will be release publicly before the game's release, so expect that to hit the Marketplace within the coming weeks.

The first one will always have a special place in my heart, despite never having played it.

Without Kane and Lynch, we would not have the awesome that is Giant Bomb.

Judging by the comments above me, people didn't like this game; I still think it's nice that the release date has been pushed up, devs don't do that these days.

However, I do like heist movies... and games..... and TV shows..... and books.... e&.

I love IO Interactive i do, without them, we wouldn't have Hitman, but Kane and Lynch is lousy. Stop wasting your time with this IOI, just give us Hitman 5.

The first game was ruined by 0 point achievements and leaderboard hijackers. Passing up 150 accounts that have attained the top spots with a modded disc without paying a ransom is beyond ridiculous.

I liked the first one. I could never understand why people trashed it so bad. Yes it was different but the story was gritty and engaging. I'm looking forward to this.

I played through the first one co-op with a friend and it wasn't bad... wasn't good either. I'll believe this is good when I see it. No way I'm pre-ordering it.

I loved the first one. The multiplayer was fun and unlike anything I had seen before and the story isn't just dark, It's goddamn black. It's unforgiving, but not ruthless. I'm excited about dog days.

I love how people are coming in here to hate on the game. If you don't care keep your opinion to yourself. Maybe the first did suck but I still kind of liked it. Read my review and maybe you'll see why!

I'm looking forward to this game because despite the flawed original it had some very good ideas and the characters had much room for development. It can't be any worse than the first so it won't be absolute shit and hopefully they've improved the basic game mechanics and added more swearing (if that was possible).

Stop hating, fools. Go back to Gears.
