GFWL taking forever to update

So, I have gfwl and signed in, entered a cd key and it says I have to update or I will be signed out. When I click yes it just goes to an update screen and it doesn't move, does this take a long time or what.

I'm playing on steam on Windows 8 and, I installed GFWl and I had a correct steam key.

Ok, I waited it out for about 20 minutes and now I'm getting a "0X80080005" error code, if anyone knows a fix please let me know.

Never mind I think I figured it out.

So it is still possible to buy this game on Disc and get all the achievements?

I'm wondering this too. I see it for under $10 on amazon. Can I buy it, install on Windows 8, and earn achievements?

If anyone has an answer I would love to buy this and earn achievements ;)

It took a little work to get it running on Win7, but they key seemed to be running it in windowed mode instead of full screen (which crashed).

One of my favorite games of all time, and nice to be able to play it and get achievements again. I'm even playing it on a laptop hooked up to my TV, with an Xbox One controller. Feels just like playing on Xbox. :)

Just tried it again and it worked!! Downloaded the update, it installed and GFWL worked OK. Ran the game and got all the cheevos no problem. Haven't a clue why it didn't work before.

Hello someone can tell me if the GFWL still work and I can earn alls achievements ?
I don't want to buy this for nothing
