Who else will be joining John Cleese in the booth?
Quite some time ago now, Molyneux revealed at a Fable III exhibition that John Cleese would be appearing in game as the players butler and acerbic friend. A recent announce from Microsoft and Lionhead has revealed a host of other famous voices set to appear in game.
Here's the full list:
John Cleese as your trusty butler and confidant, Jasper Sir Ben Kingsley as the leader of the mountain dwellers, Sabine Simon Pegg as attention-seeking soldier Benn Finn who is looking for action Michael Fassbender as the evil King Logan whom your “Fable III” hero will lead a revolution against Zoë Wannamaker returns as Theresa. She was last seen taking over the Spire in “Fable II,” but who knows what her real motivation is? Stephen Fry returns as Reaver, the narcissistic marksman blessed with eternal youth Bernard Hill as Sir Walter Beck, your faithful mentor Nicholas Hoult as the potential male love interest, Elliot, to your “Fable III” female hero Naomie Harris as Page, the leader of the rebels who reside in BowerstoneSome gamers may be unsure as to the use of talent such as this in the game. After all, do we care? As long as the voices sound 'good', does it add to our experience? Louise Copley who heads up the Fable franchise, believes so:
The ‘Fable’ franchise has always been recognized for its unique take on drama, morality, and of course, humour. We’re taking this to the limits in ‘Fable III’ by bringing on a star-studded cast that includes Sir Ben Kingsley, John Cleese and Simon Pegg, who truly understand what it takes to bring characters to life in complex ways and add new dimensions of blockbuster entertainment to ‘Fable III.’Fable III launches October 26th (US/AU), October 28th (JP), and October 29th (EU). |

It's always surprising how many big name actors lend voice talent to video games. I had a happy moment when I learned that Micheal Dorn will be reprising his role as Marcus the Supermutant (from Fallout 2) in Fallout: New Vagas. :D |

| I spend half my time in the cinema in "oooh I know that voice/face from somewhere" mode, nice to see games are getting the same treatment. Good talent is good talent, and this is no different than Cleese lending his voice to the Shrek franchise. |

| The only thing that ever interested me in a celeb voice was after i played a game and then i herd that there was a celeb in it and it was only the "Aw-ha" factor nothing more. |

Simon Pegg is a good actor, his voice is quite ordinary though.
Stephen Fry however has a spectacular voice, it sort of bellows... okay maybe spectacular is over the top but it's certainly unique and I could see why they would want to use his voice (basically to reinforce a stereotype to americans that britain's accent sounds like one huge universal tea party, and that regional accents and dialects are something of myth) Haha! |

Holy damn is that a strong list. Apart from Nicholas Hoult - I am seriously not a fan of that dude.
Either way, this isn't a buy for me. |

| Brilliant list. One of the many reasons Fable III will be so entertaining. I'm quite looking forward to it, and the only game this year that has me as excited (or even moreso) is Dead Rising 2. Speaking of which, I'm about to go and start playing that tonight. That and Halo Reach should keep me well occupied until Fable comes along. |

The second one had a decent voice cast too but it didn't stop it being a let down. I've had my fill of Fable. I find myself doing more of the character work than the game and whilst it's novel in that respect it hasn't fulfilled its potential yet. By all accounts they're making the game even more accessible which just further takes away my interest.
I will be playing it but not at launch. I've learned my lesson from Fable. |
