Pen is finally put to paper
In case you'd forgotten, today is the day that you can finally pick up the final slice of DLC for psychological thriller Alan Wake entitled The Writer.
Priced at 560MSP, The Writer will extend the gameplay of Alan Wake with new fears and nightmarish encounters as Wake now fully understands the foe which opposes him.
Originally posted in DK's article when The Writer's release date was first announced, here's another quick look at that trailer to loosen your purse strings.

There are like 9 new achievements. They're pretty easy to grab. If you played The Signal, it's pretty much more of the same. I'd say it's probably a bit less fulfilling than The Signal, but it was pretty good all the same.

Absolutely loved the original 6 episodes! Brilliant, fun, tense, great game. However, I finally got around to the Signal last night, and it was fucking brutal, difficulty-wise. Not bragging, just putting things in perspective, on my only playthrough of the game, I had no trouble at all completing on Hard, but playing the Signal on Normal, I was getting killed repeatedly (breaking point was the "furnace" section) to the point of rage quit, deleting the DLC from my hardrive, and putting the game right back into storage. I'll admit, it took a while for the combat scheme and remembering tacts to come back, but it was just brutally frustrating in its difficulty. Suffice to say, I'll wait on this DLC 'til I've worked out my Alan Wake kinks.

Good call Exit Bloom. There are some sections in The Writer that can get really frustrating. To the point that I used 11 flares in the space of a minute. Loved it :D
