EA have announced that from February, Grey Warden lovers everywhere will be able to appease their bloodthirsty cravings while chatting to friends and family. Dragon Age 2 Legends is a Facebook-based strategy RPG and it will allow players the chance to unlock bonus content for Dragon Age 2.
EA describe the setting for their Facebook adventure: 13 years have passed since a group of warriors led by the Templar Ravi banded together to prevent an abomination from destroying the Free Marches city of Kaiten in a hedonistic orgy of narcissism and opulence.
The former Viscount Khedra spent most of his life as a venerated ruler, celebrated for his wisdom. Late in life, he started to change, beginning with the construction of a great coliseum where nobles' chosen champions competed for pride and glory. What began as games of entertainment quickly devolved into great spectacles of carnage punctuated by outlandish pageantry. The lesser nobles of Kaiten no longer settled their disputes in court, instead grievances big and small were decided by sword for the pleasure of an increasingly bloodthirsty populace.
The Viscount's nephew, Ravi, and his allies discovered the source of Khedra's odd behavior: Khedra was possessed by a powerful Pride demon and was now an abomination. These heroes were able to defeat the demon in a fearsome confrontation, and mysteriously, you were there to aid them.
Now, Ravi is the Viscount of Kaiten and you are one of his most trusted allies. When a mysterious set of circumstances begin to form around his son Eiton, you are the only one he trusts to save his son.EA will hold a beta for the title starting in January. Invitations will be distributed to lucky EA account holders who have Facebook accounts and subscriptions to the Dragon Age Newsletter. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/9/2010/11/5....jpg |

| Most of my Facebook friends don't even see me as a gamer, so when they see me playing something like this I'm gonna get a bunch of puzzled chat messages. |

Facebook is for people who can't converse with someone face to face. Facebook games, like FarmVille, don't help. If you don't agree, please, read the story about the women who was so upset over her Farm, that she killed her child. (link hidden) Its at the top of the page.
Video games are very similar, but for most of us who play video games, we know when to hit the off button. This concept is just stupid to me. |

| I don't think it's really that we know when to hit the off button, it's that people don't see "casual" games in the same light as regular games like you and I play, most people will see someone play farmville and think "oh, that's cute" then they turn around and watch someone killing people and think it degrades your character, so obviously the game where you kill people isn't healthy whereas planting crops can't hurt anything |

Aus Viga,
While tragic, that is unfair. You could use similar extreme stories to argue against XBox gaming(http://www.monstersandcritics.com/gaming/xbox360/news/articl...). If you want to use the extremist cases to justify your argument against facebook, you have to allow the same against your chosen hobby as well. |

| Why does everything have to be on Facebook? I know I'm one of the last holdouts but everything I've heard about Facebook and privacy makes me want to avoid it like the plague. Then again, I use gmail so who am I to talk? |

| I hope BioWare are outsourcing this and not wasting resources that should be spent on the main game. |

| It won't detract from the main game. They had a web game (Darkspawn Chronicles) I believe last time around, and it didn't interfere with the main game. Integrating them with Facebook just gets them more visibility, so is there any reason for them not to integrate? |

And the example you used saying gamers no when to stop, there is no difference. Facebook didn't cause this, the stupid woman did and if she was a gamer she could have easily done it because the baby was crying while she was playing Halo.
Get a dose of reality please |

Darkspawn Chronicles is a supported expansion for Dragon Age: Origins.
And, on a further note, if this game is indeed DA:J2, then I'm all in. Especially if it is anything remotely similar to the original. Hells yeahs, free trinkets and baubles. Now, I do hope they're better this time than some silly helm and some elemental resistance/damage buffs... but who am I to complain about a free flash game with free rewards just for playing? |
