But there are some functionality limitations
Activision has given details about a new "Compatibility Pack" for DJ Hero 2. The update will allow gamers to upload tracks from the original DJ Hero DLC to play in the newest iteration in the series.
The details were made public via Twitter: Sorry for the technical difficulties. FREE Compatibility Pack is available on Xbox... Play DJ Hero downloadable mixes in DJ Hero 2However, the improvements which have been made since the first game will not feature when gamers are spinning the older DLC tracks. As explained: some DJ Hero 2 functionality is not supported in this update, such as freestyle cross-fading, freestyle scratching and vocalsNonetheless, the DLC tracks can, at least, be utilised within the latest game! |

This says: Songs wont work "...due to the new authoring standards, inclusion of new instruments, new lighting / venue cues, etc."
"However, it's not all bad news for Rock Band and Rock Band 2 fans... At least, the new tracks will be unavailable in those games, therefore preventing gamers from inadvertently buying incompatible DLC!!" |

| I love the DJ Hero games. Anything to add to this is ok by me. Best mixes are the David Guetta ones... |

Old DLC from Rock Band and Rock Band 2 will still work with Rock Band 3. But SOME songs haven't made it: How to export songs to RB3 |

Sounds about right. Rock Band 3 songs and future DLC will not work in RB1 and RB2 due to compatibility issues. However, RB1 and RB2 disc tracks can be exported to play in RB3. All DLC is compatible with RB 3. |

[removed off topic section]
yeah, DJ Hero has no announced plans to re-chart or re-release songs from the first game as DLC for the second game. Although if that tactic works for Rock Band, I wouldn't put it past Activision for a second. |

This is a news post about DJ Hero, not Rock Band. Just a little heads up.
Good of them to do this! I really like this trend of music games offering cross-compatibility, and turning their DLC into more of a whole platform rather than just a solitary game add-on... if that makes sense. I love the idea of buying a new music game and having access to all the DLC I've previously bought in the new game too. More choice ftw! |
