It's show time!
Edit: It appears that it is compulsory to download this DLC if you want to keep playing this game over Xbox Live. If you have not downloaded this DLC, when you try to connect to a Live match, the game displays a message stating that the free DLC has been released and that you need to download the DLC before you can play. The message appears for both Crossfire and Blitz modes over Live. Local gameplay does not seem to be affected.
Original Story:
The free "Spunky Cola Special" DLC for Monday Night Combat has finally been released today. Uber Entertainment have also issued the update for the game that dealt with a long list of fixes for the game.
Just to remind you, the DLC adds the Spunky Cola arena to the Crossfire mode: http://www.uberent.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/....jpg
The Survivitol Arena is added to the Blitz mode: http://www.uberent.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/....jpg
There is a new Blitz mode added as well, although the Super Sudden Death Blitz is only playable in the new Survivitol Arena.
Unfortunately, for those of you with Free Live accounts who were hoping to download the DLC for the Blitz mode and arena, the DLC is currently Gold exclusive. Here's a link to the Games Marketplace for those of you who want to queue it up on your Xbox.

Free DLC!!! Definitely gonna grab this game now. I'll be getting this and PVZ for that 400 point rebate promotion they're starting today. Also just picked up a 1600 point card for $18 on sale at Best Buy and used a $15 gift certificate towards it. So with the 800 points from the last rebate it's like I'm getting these games for free. :D |

Use one of the quotes from that thread |

Debating to get this or wait for DOTW. |

Edit: I am expecting to get flamed, but its the truth. It wouldn't even be flaming. You said DLC is pointless if it doesn't have achievements tied to it. That's simply wrong. It gives you more content that you paid a base value for, and extends your playtime with it... |

Edit: I am expecting to get flamed, but its the truth. If DLC is free, than it shouldn't matter if there is achievements attached to it or not (Since it's for the betterment of the game at no cost to the consumer). If on the otherhand they decided to tack on a good ol' 400-800 MSP price tag, then achievements would be something I would expect. |

| If the free DLC had achivements then those who had yet to purchase the game might find the total amount of achievements worth the price. I believe that Star Trek game did that. |

Edit: I am expecting to get flamed, but its the truth.Flame on! If the only reason you buy games is for achievements then you'd might as well hack 'em. It will save you valuable time and and you don't have to play another game again!
Any decent minded gamer should appreciate free ad-ons and dev support. Take that TF2! |

No offense taken, I knew I would get beat down on this. I like playing games but when I complete all achievements for them I tend to think, "whats left to play for" even the ones I love. It is free so sorry I brought it up....afterall we are on a website for getting ACHIEVEMENTS. |

III JAY CUB III said:Any achievements? Otherwise, DLC=Pointless. Edit: I am expecting to get flamed, but its the truth. If you didn't notice, after multiple mentions, this DLC is FREE. I wish I could increase the font size of that last word, about ten times or more its original stature. The bolding will have to do, I suppose. There is no reason on earth why someone with Monday Night Combat shouldn't get this DLC. If you have the HDD space for the game itself, which is fairly large, you certainly have room for this small (and did we mention free) update. This isn't some campaign-style and single-player exclusive game. If so, then sure, I could understand you wanting new achievements to give your playtime some sort of tangible reward.
The reason this game is one of my couple favorites on the 360, and the reason it will never grow old, is the multiplayer with friends. You can play both co-op and competitive multiplayer in this game, and a match is never the same twice. That's the sort of gaming that doesn't require achievements to leave you fulfilled. Even during my five+ year hiatus from gaming, prior to getting my 360, multiplayer games were the one part of the industry that never grew stale for me. And even though achievements are what drew me back into playing single-player stuff, I'd still have bought a 360 without them. Being able to play most any game online with your friends is enough of a selling point for me. |
