Harm's Way also gets decent runner-up prize

The public have spoken, and the winner has been announced for the Doritos Unlock Xbox competition. Doritos Crash Course came in first place, with developer Jill Robertson carrying home the $50,000 prize and a one-year game consultancy position with Doritos.

Harm's Way placed as a worthy runner-up. The judges decided that both games were worthy of a prize, so they awarded Justin Carpenter, developer for Harm's Way, another $50,000 and a one-year gaming consultancy position as well. The announcement of the winner was delayed for several hours, and with the runner-up receiving an identical prize to the winner, this leads me to believe that the gap between the number of votes for each game was close.

The final webisode can be seen if you follow the external link, even if you do it just to watch Jessica Chobot trying hard not to cry.

Both games are available as free downloads on the Games Marketplace, although some content appears to be unavailable in some regions.

I think that it's great to recognize both developers getting recognition for their creations. Congrats to both.

I like Crash Course better for the simple reason that it feels like a game show (American Gladiator's gauntlet?). Also, my fiancee enjoyed playing this game and for that reason alone it gets a +1 from me.

Glad Crash Course won, it's 100x better than Harms Way. Good they gave Harms Way a prize also though!

Harm's Way was utter shit. It didn't deserve any kind of positive recognition.

I loved Crash Course, and it was the only game I had my wife just pick up the controller and play for the hell of it instead of forcing her to play (plus, its a fun game for my 3 year old to play). But I'm definitely happy that the maker of Harms Way got the prizes too because it was a great idea by itself, it just couldn't compare to Crash Course in my opinion.

Harm's Way has the potential to be a really exciting game.. I thought it was different enough to draw in fans. Crash Course was a deserving winner though, as I thoroughly enjoyed that one. Congrats to both

D Fineout said:I personally liked Harm's Way way more than Crash Course. What I think hurt Harms Way was the fact that no one could find anybody on public matches (I don't know if they even fixed that yet). Plus, it was the first game that most people played due to the easier achievements. Crash Course was harder but still doable, meaning people played it for a lot longer and were more satisfied when they finished it.

Crash Course was the much better game, and deserved to win. Harm's Way wasn't very good in my opinion, but if the online actually worked, then it could have easily actually been the bes of the two.

IMO, there are too many situations in Crash Course that require absolutely perfect timing to not screw up.

Neither game is very deep though.

Loved crash course. Think the premise for Harm's Way was good but may have fell a little short of what they could have done with it. Both are still worth the price though, right?

I played Crash course more than I did harms way, mainly because the Harms Way single player felt empty. But the Multi player could have been a blast if there was ever people on it. Glad that both parties got the recognition that they deserved.

Gratz to both of them.

Crash course had the better gameplay and presentation I think harms way is a great idea that would work on a much bigger scale it could be a genuine online multiplayer unique experience.

Both really good games (considering I've paid for far worse). Glad that Crash Course won - very competetive game, gave me blisters!
