Throwback costumes for six fighters
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 may have been released this week, but that does not mean I have to stop writing news about it!
Capcom have announced the first "Alternate Costume Pack" DLC for the brand new brawler. The "Alternate Costume Pack" will be available March 1st for 400 MSP. March 1st is the also the day that the first pack of Shadow Mode DLC will be available.
The first "Alternate Costume Pack" features new outfits for Captain America, Iron Man and Thor on the Marvel side. Ryu, Chris and Dante get new duds on the Capcom side. Throwback costumes seem to be the theme, as we are getting the following costumes:
- "Secret Avengers" Captain America (with triangle shield!)
- Classic Thor
- "Iron Patriot" Iron Man (Okay, this one isn't a throwback, that's Norman "Green Goblin" Osborne in the armor and not Tony Stark)
- Street Fighter 1 Ryu
- Resident Evil 1 Chris Redfield
- "Sparda" Dante (Dante's Daddy)

| It always makes you a bit leery when DLC is announced the day after release. It was bad enough that they withheld those two characters for the premium edition. |

Which, for the record, is one of Cap's best looks. I'll be holding out for the costume "bundle" like they did with SF4 though.
Hopefully they do another bundle for cheapskates like me. |

| Capcom is going to rape the crap out of this game with DLC. By this time next year the roster will have over 100 characters and over 1000 different costumes I bet. |

But yeah, the DLC for this game is going to reach absurd heights. 400 isn't *too* bad for a costume pack at least. It could've been much worse. |

It's "Iron Patriot" rather than "Iron Captain" isn't it? Norman Osborne when he stole some armor when he took over SHIELD and made it HAMMER.

100 characters sounds cool, but this costume pack business annoys me.
Extra costumes are cool, but extra characters is where this game will sell.
I'm not too happy about new costumes instead of new characters.
SSFIV would have been way better if they hadn't wasted time on countless costume packs and instead put effort into adding more SF characters.
But I shouldn't complain, if they come out with a costume pack that catches my eye, I might actually buy it. Just not for 400MSP. Maybe 240. |

I don't wanna derail this conversation but I demand a link!... please? Nothing I've seen really shows off Beast all too much even when I googled.
That said the Capcom side of this is far more interesting than the Marvel. Sure I love classic Thor and Cap looks interesting like this but Iron Captain? Meh. RE1 Chris, Sparda and SF1 Ryu? That's awesome.
And Dog of Thunder don't feel too bad about the boo-boos in the article. I've seen so many other websites, bigger ones, screw it up. Such as calling Sparda, the savior of the world, evil (ie. that's Dante's evil costume because of that) and another one that called that Iron Man armor the War Machine armor... for some reason. |
