Also, a glimpse at Felicia Day!
Update: Bioware just tweeted that when the Dragon Age II demo reaches one million downloads, they will unlock two, new in-game items. Here are the full details:
February 22, 2011 marks the launch of the Dragon Age II Demo and a Call to Arms for all BioWare fans. We are actively recruiting an army of Champions, and if we get over 1 million demo downloads and logins on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 combined before March 1st, we will unlock two in-game items for the entire community to use in Dragon Age II. Demo download progress will be tracked on this page, so check back often!
To get your download counted, you will need to log into your EA account while playing the demo.
The items that will be unlocked are:
The Far Cliffs of Kirkwall - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems describes her dreams of a new start in Kirkwall, the city across the sea. Readers will surely be enriched by her insights. (Gives money when read.)
Lothering's Lament - Written by a Fereldan refugee as she fled the Blight, this book of poems contains touching reminiscences of all she had to leave behind. Readers will surely benefit from her experience. (Gives XP boost when read.)Original Story: One of the big complaints about the console version of Dragon Age: Origins was the graphics. Having been released so close to the gorgeously rendered Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins just didn't look quite as good. Upon the announcement of Dragon Age II, Bioware immediately aimed to put those graphics complaints to rest.
Yesterday, Andreas Papathanasis of Bioware posted a new developer blog about the graphical enhancements of Dragon Age II's new, Lycium engine. While a lot of the text is somewhat technical, he did show off a few, new, in-game screenshots.
The goal of these first three screenshots is to show off improvements in the lighting system.

The next screenshots show off cloud, fog and smoke effects rendered in the new engine.

Finally, check out the character lighting effects on the mage form of Hawke.

In other Dragon Age news, on last night's "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" everyone's favorite nerd crush, Felicia Day, shared more details about Dragon Age: Redemption, a six episode web series. Day will be playing a sarcastic, elf assassin named Tallis.
Day describes Tallis with the following:
Tallis is headstrong, she fights dirty, and she has a really sarcastic sense of humor.Day also came prepared with the following teaser clip. Enjoy!

| Any word on when/where DA:R will be? The website seems to say that it premiered yesterday, but I don't see a hint of it anywhere. |

| The screenshots look quite impressive. I will stay happy in the pants as long as they don't sacrifice framerate for it. If it lives up to the first, it will be an amazing game. |
