PermalinkProject Easy Completion Update #2- A Brave New World
Well it seems I not only have a mild amount of OCD with the way I check and recheck the door to the apartment when I leave, as well as my fiddling with my locker at work making sure its locked, I might also have ADD because not even 4 days into Project Easy Completion....I'm chaninging it!

Yes, I decided that I did not like the way it was progressing for me so I decided to change it up a bit.

Mostly I decided I didn't want to play a couple of the games on the list, namely Big Bumpin' and Sneak King, and wanted to add others namely Bionicle Heros. Thats how it started, but after some measure of inward thinking I decided that I should expand my project from being just easy completion games, but to also include games I was just not into as much, games I bought because they were considered easy or were on sale or I was given. At work today I realized that I had just too many games, not nearly as many as some people on the site, just for my own liking.

So, with that in mind I have remade my list to include these other games as well. Some game son the list are far from easy, or short...or even fun in some cases, but all are games I would rather just have back in a store somewhere waiting for someone else to buy, while I use the created space on my shelf for more games that I actually WANT to play.

I'm also putting aside my fear of not gaining a completion on all the games, which for some odd reason I had which was actually preventing me from playing some of these games. Its odd because my completion rate isn't that good to begin with, being just over 41% so I really should not have been worrying.

My ratio is also going down due to the sheer lack of challenging games I've been doing on Project Easy Completion. In fact I went down a whole point since I started! But in reality, ratio is unimportant to me so I will no longer be concerning myself with it. It doesn't really make me a better gamer, just someone who seems to like harder games. I don't care about that, I just like playing games...SO!....

...Project Easy Completion gets renamed today to plain old Project Completion. Updates will continue as per normal and all previous completions will be considered under the new title since its the same thing only with way more games!

...and here they are!

1) Megamind: Ultimate Showdown (1000/1000 Earned)
2) Disney Pixar's UP (1000/1000 Earned)
3) CSI: Fatal Comspiracy (Currently working on)
4) James Cameron's Avatar
5) Spongebob Squarepants Truth or Squared
6) Saints Row The Third
7) Crash: Mind Over Mutant
8) Bully: Scholarship Edition
9) Bionicle Heros
10) Captain America
11) Too Human

22) Darkstar One
23) DarkVoid
24) Dead to Rights: Retribution

This is a very daunting list, and it will be what I'm doing (apparantly for the next year)...until IU change my mind about the project next week...

PermalinkBlog #16 Project Easy Completion Update #1
Yeah I decided to change the name of my "thing" from Operation to Project simply because its not a military operation and I highly doubt I'll be doing it with any kind of military precision! :-)

So one day in and I'm doing quite well I think because of the eleven games I assigned to my project, I've already finished one and started into another!

I knew Megamind was an easy game based on the ratio it was given but to be honest I was not expecting it to be THAT easy. Scanning through the achievement list before I started in Ithought I would possibly have an issue with achievements pertaining to defeating bosses without dying because I'm just not that good at one offs. Yeah...not even an issue. Those bosses were so easy I'm pretty sure I could have strapped a controller to one of my cats and in its attempt to remove said controller by flailing about madly it would have beaten the boss. Two and a half hours of playing and this one was one for the history books. Oh well, important the important thing here is that the game is done and one spot has been opened up in my game cabinet!

One down, ten to go!

To recap, heres the list again (games are in no particular order apart from the completed ones, which are of course in order of completion)

..the game I'm currently working on is in bold....

1. Megamind: Ultimate Showdown
2. Disney Pixar's UP
3. CSI: Fatal Conspiracy
4. James Cameron's Avatar
5. BK Sneak King
6. BK Big Bumpin'
7. Captain America
8. Crash Bandicoot: Mind Over Mutant
9. Saints Row The Third
10. Spongebob Squarepants Truth or Squared
11. Bully: Scholarship Edition

PermalinkBlog #15 Operation Recipe Retrieve...
Okay, so if you read my blog title and realized it was a line from the movie Beerfest, congratulations! It appears you like silly movies like I do!

Anyway, It seems I'm at a bit of a crossroads at the moment. If you've read previous blogs from me you are aware that I was doing this little project called "The Chopping Block". Basically I had come up with the oh-so clever title because it seemed a good tie-in to my gaming and my career (as a chef if you were completely unaware of my gamertag) and it was supposed to be a project I created to work on games I had on my tag that were low on percentage. I would work on these games until I got to a completion I was happy with although I wasn't worried about the full completion, just something I was comfortable with. After completing them, I would "chop" them my collection in order to make room for more games. I also wasn't going to start any new games until I had the majority of games on my tag at an acceptable percentage.

At the time it seemed a great idea because I would work on getting my low percentage games up and I would clear room on my gaming shelf for other games (You can see my old shelf in a few pictures on the blog before this one). It was a genius idea....it seemed....

....what I never considered was that although I was working on games I already owned or could borrow from friends, I was still buying new games and shelving them until I was done with the Chopping Block...this was not such a good idea...

....Now it seems I have 120 games in my collection and after a census of them it seems I have 77 unplayed (new and used). So my idea of going through games in order to make room for more has severly backfired. Sigh.

Add to that the fact that a little while back I bought a much newer and nicer shelf for my games so that I could display them better and maybe have more room for games...room that I actually filled up a couple days ago....puts me even more into a one step forward, two steps back situation!

Heres a shot of my new shelf....

Now I did get my wife to agree to me being able to get another shelf, but only one more, but I wasn't expecting to A) buy the shelf a month after the first one or B) need a new shelf for at least 6 more months....it seems my addiction is even worse than I expected....

....I don't even have a place to put the next shelf right now at any rate!

With the upcoming releases of games I have already preordered Darksiders 2 CE (with the Mask), Borderlands 2 Ultimate Loot Chest Edition and Assassins Creed 3 (which I'm going to upgrade to CE). Add to that the CE I want for Aliens Colonial Marines and at least 10 other games I saw from E3 I want (before you ask..no, I'm not wealthy. My wife and I live in an apartment, but we both have good paying jobs and no kids so we give each other a healthy allowance to do with as we wish. She...has a horse) and you see that I will have way more space than games sooner rather than later.

So, I decided to scrap the Chopping Block project for now, it will always be on the back burner but right now I need to work on something more pressing and immediate. I want to clear out some of the easier games in my collection regardless of whether they were on my tag already or not. I'm doing this simply to help make room.

Heres the games I'm ear marking for this new project:
1) Megamind. I started this one today in fact and already have it over 500gs so that one will be out hopefully in a couple days at most
2) BK Sneak King
3) BK Big Bumpin'
4) Bully Scholarship Edition (This ones already on my tag and I know its not a quick game, but I can sell this to a friend who loves it after Im done)
5) Captain America
6) Crash Mind Over Mutant
7) CSI Fatal Conspiracy
8) Disney Pixar's UP
9) Saints Row the Third (again not a quick game but I wasn't as happy withthis one as I thought I would be. I, like some two other friends got suckered into buying it by another friend addicted to the series...who ultimately traded it in in to get BF3 when he decided he didn't like it)
10) Spongebob's Truth or Squared

All these games were chosed for there relative ease of completion (Achievement wise, NOT time wise per se), and I am aiming to 1000gs them all (or full completion with DLC in the case of Saints Row).

All in all I'm looking forward to this actually because i'm feeling a bit off of playing games. I'm just not into it right now but maybe playing these easier ones will get me more juiced to want try harder or more complicated ones.

Now the name I've chosen is rather weak. I'm calling it Operation Easy Competion. Its a sad title (hence the name of my blog), but if you have a better name, feel free to let me know.
