PermalinkPlanescape torment is the best RPG ever, and other things
Ok, maybe I should clarify. I, like most long time gamers, frequently think about games I want to see updated and brought to the Xbox. If its good enough for drag and capcom, why not the rest?

Since my head is cluttered enough, I figured making a blog post would help free some space for other things, like work or my daughter. Lol

Planescape Torment is an old Interplay game made around the time of Baulders Gate and was released to the pc. It was a DnD based game in a little known or used setting. It's take on story telling I don't think has been matched since. There were so many nuances to this game you felt compelled to replay to see what else you missed and what new ending you could see. I think the game would need to be updated, control/combat wise. Even graphically. But the story was amazing. But I doubt it will ever be released on console.

Thief. Another game I played on pc but never completed. (ended up in Torment). I loved the concept of this game and it's play. I never played Thief 2 but I heard Thief three may be in the works. I'm certain these games would work well on console (two may have been, in fact). I'd love the chance to complete this game.

ONI. I made the mistake of playing this on the pc. This was totally a console game, but was heavily marketed for pc iirc. I didn't make it far because I couldn't figure out how to play, even after the tutorial. Watched a friend play and I was a bit jealouse. Hopefully Bungie will decifde to re-release it since its listed on there page.

Castlevania. There are a few available, especially the classic SotN. But there are some others that were just as good that are in Nintendos clutches <_<. I could just try to find them for my ds, but I want them on the big (tv) screen!

Already I'm starting to forget games I wanted to mention.

There were a couple really good Gundam games I remember playing on the dreamcast. I don't recall there names, but I know one was set in Australia the othere was based on the original moves with special missions from other UC series and related unlockables. Controls needed work, but I think those would be just as fun with updated graphics.

Robotech Battlecry! It was on the original Xbox, but I played it on the GameCube. Amazing game that I can't see why it could get the HD treatment. Could help Harmony Gold reverse the damage from Shadow Chronicles. I loved trying to unlock the next best veritech design, throwing the super pack on it and playing the big space battles just to watch pods explode en masse around me.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'm gonna start doing a blog style tracking my progress and thoughts on the game I was playing as I finish a game. Wifey made me think of calling it the "bleep bloop blog." also do different random thought or topic blogs. Hopefully I can get some pics of my minecraft world to share soon

PermalinkGames I'm considering, feedback welcome
Ok, so I have been thinking about a number of things. Games I want, games I want to complete, etc. figured sorting them in a blog could help. I think doing this occasionally could be useful.

First, I have mentioned it but not detailed it yet, XBLA games I've bought and are holding onto until my next "xbla blitz," which should be bigger then the last:
Alien hominid HD (I think it's still on sale)
Guardian Heroes
SVC Golden Axe

I know I will be getting:
Shank 2
Dust: an Elysian tale
Wallace & gromit eps 3 and 4

I am also always on the look out for sales when they pop up. That's how I got alien hominid and Anamoly. So there are a few games I am on the fence about. Most were recommended and swag games, both good things I think:
Altered Beast
SVC streets of rage (I guess I want to know if the trany, poison is in it?)
From dust (missed the sale)
Virtua fighter 5
Skull girls
Marvel vs capcom
I am alive

I think there were some other games suggested that I didn't kee track of as well as I should, and I apologize if that's the case :(
The fighting games are low on my list as that is my worst genre, but it could be fun to have just to play.

I am open to more suggestions. I'm not as worried about easy achievements. I want decent games. I particular like metroidvania games. On that note everyone needs to play Outland and Shadow Complex.

The other thing I'm thinking about is games I want to complete. Maybe not right now, but certainly after I hit 100k gs. This is not a call for help, most of the mp stuff I know who to go to.
Anomoly (most of the extra stuff)
Shank (hard, which I don't see being harder the easy)
Iron brigade
Halo ce
Captain America (4 gold medals)
Mass effect 3 (newly expanded endings will make it worthwhile)
Lollipop chainsaw

There are also a couple dlcs, three for MW3 and the upcoming Skyrom dlc. I'm going to wait on these, sales. That much msp could go to a lot of other stuff.

PermalinkSo I should write one, maybe...
Just finished Captain America: Super Soldier. year behind, but largely due to how many new games I played since then.

For a movie tie-in game, its pretty good. Helped that I just finished the DLC for Batman AC since the combat is fairly similar. Best part is end game free roam. Loads of collectables, but the hiding spots are out in the open, so that's not to bad.

I only have folds on all challenges (really only four) left. Prolly leave it for now. I want to wrap up Lollipop Chainsaw too.

My wife picked up Monopoly Streets when she noticed it in the bargain bin at Target. $2 and change. She wanted to play it, have something we could play as a family, and she knew I could get some 'bleep bloops' off of it.

Reading the list, I could get a lot of achievements off it. quite a few luck based ones, and some online ones, but I can mop up quite the score in a short time once I can play it.

I have the Prince of Persia game and CoD4 waiting for me next. Hope to drag those out into July when I can hopefully grab some more games. I decided not to drag out Captain America. Game just seemed to easy and I was eager to do some shield flinging.

Wifey also got me some more MS points, so I bought a couple Sega games. I want to get a few more games stockpiled, including Dust which is in August. Alien Hominid HD is also waiting back there.

New DLC for Skyrim this week! 1600 MSP... Think I will wait.

I have been very free wheeling in earning achievements this week, since I know I have more games already on hand. I think I am going to slow down a bit though, since I don't know when in July I can get more games. Well, except for monopoly. I want to crank that out as quickly as I can so I don't have to think about it when playing with my wife.

If anyone is willing to help me in Monopoly, please let me know.

Edit: finished a thought above. Also I completed Monopoly within 24 hours of starting it. Play time was even lower. With an online partner you can do it even faster, as I helped NoScope discover

PermalinkProgress so far
Sitting here reflecting while eating my shells and cheese.

So, Lollipop Chainsaw. I don't know if I should love or hate this game.

There are so many things about this game I love. But a couple things I hate. Overall, besides a couple points that nearly caused my wife to divorce me, this weekend helped me love this game.

There are a lot(!) of quick time events (QTEs) in this game. To many really. Especially near the start of the game. What I think made this worse was I was playing the game after work during a somewhat stressful week, so I didn't have the mind set to handle the QTEs.

Killing the zombies is fun. Getting the multi-kills (sparkle hunting) was a trick to figure out, as were the commands. The controls didn't feel right at first. After more playing and unlocking more combos it started to make more sense. I think it is probably a standard set up for most hack and slash and fighting games, I am just not accustomed to playing those.

I only have a few achievements left to get in the game, but I am not sure if I will push for the completion. I probably just need to get away from the game for awhile.

With that in mind, I am putting the game on the back burner to maybe play a little on weekends or when I feel like cutting stuff and start moving to other games and DLCs in queue.

This game nearly thru my daily goal off. I was down by 5 points on thursday, but made it up the following day thankfully. I went over today so I didn't have to feel pressure or whatever to get some of these collection achievements. Otherwise, I am on track.

I will probably start Captain America next. Kinda looking forward to it, but I'm worried I will get to into it and complete it before I have a chance to milk it. My wife has banned me from any new games until next month since I got Saints Row 3, CA and LC in a two week time-phrame, along with a 1600 MSP card.

fortunately I also have the last of the currently available SR3 DLCs and the new Batman AC DLC as well as a game I snuck in recently, CoD MW. MW will be easy to pass off as one of the sequels since I still have those.

My wife kept talking about Lego Batman 2. I think Target or Fred Meyers has a good deal on it. I am torn on if I want this game. I think cons outweigh pros, but some of the pros are kinda big to me.

In the cons:
Its another damn lego game. I got sick of these with Lego Pirates, but still played lego Harry Potter 2 and Lego Star Wars 2 (well, replayed to get my completion % up is more accurate. Hurray for 90%!).

The Batman Voice actor is the same one from the Batman Brave and the Bold cartoon on Cartoon Network. Same actor who has also been on the Drew Carey show and the movie Office Space, and an appearance on Reno 911. I think hes funny but I don't like his Batman voice. I don't hear Batman. I hear the actor. (Ok, in a literal sense "no shit, thats true for all voice actors." but this is one of those things were you can't get into the story because you are thinking about the actor themselves rather then the character he is trying to play).

The other voices I have heard from the trailers dig at me too. Lex Luthor is the only one I think they got from the 'good' era of DC cartoons that ended with JL: Unlimited

Now in the Pros:
It will be open World.

It actually has voice acting, which is more a mixed blessing.

Possibility of playing as Captain Marvel, otherwise annoyingly called 'Shazam.' I have not seen a character list for the game, but I don't see why this would be to hard to do since his power set is very similar to Supermans. Just replace xray vision, heat vision and cold breath with a lightning bolt from the sky and a youthful sunny disposition.

Next month I plan to get some older games. Castlevania, Lords of Shadow, TMNT and hopefully a more recent game like Binary Domain or Sniper Elite v2.

Prepare yourself, July is coming and it will be a dead month.

Oh, yeah, we recently started watching Game of Thrones. Hooked with ep1. No, we have not read the books. Considering my tendency with these things, I probably will soon.

PermalinkPopsicle Machette
Thats what my wife calls my fathers day present. She also surprised me with Captain America last week. With COD4 also in the wings I should have enough gamage to get me into July, when my wife will let me buy more games.

As far as my progress so far, I'm keeping to my 85gs per day plan, usually exceeding it. I finished Alice madness returns on Saturday. There is a good guide on x360a that walks you thru step by step for achievement and collectible achievements. Game is good but a coupleplatforming points are annoying. Most of the mini games are skipable too.

I also completed Xmen destiny. I enjoyed this game and it's easy to 100%. There is some replay ability too since there are three characters. I think they could have added co-op as well, shame they didn't. Easy glitch to complete the hardest difficulty without full replay and no achievement for getting all colletables, only need some of them. Worth getting on sale. It's been out a year and I don't think the price has dropped yet. I think amazon has some good prices tho.

Started my Insanity playthru of ME3. I was going to wait for the new endings but they are dragging there feet. I am of the opinion that there likely will be no story dlc. I wanted a time killer game for days when I got my 85gs quickly and I didn't feel like playing minecraft. So here I am.

I toyed with the idea of playing a string of super hero games since I played Xmen and have captain America. TMNT and maybe Superman returns are on my list as easy 1000ks in franchises I'm interested in. That was kInda where my interest stopped. Didn't seem worth it to play movie tie in games or risk getting a stinker spidie game.

I'm feeling more confident that I have the games or will be able to get the games to meet my goal. If I keep at my current pace I may hit it by November or even late October.

In other news, I still love minecraft. Every time I shower, which is daily, I get more ideas. Getting this sprawling village going that I am constantly adding to. Sandaclaus has helped a lot so far. Deadman and Sanguine Soul have also contributed quite a bit too.

I always love seeing what people do, sharing ideas and working on something together. Anyone is welcome in my world as long as you don't touch anything already built. I can always use a hand and don't mind trying to help in other worlds.
