PermalinkGoodbye Lord Stanley
Ahhh- rotorschnee I wish it had been a tattoo!laugh Yesterday I was at the doctor since my tonsils are still the size of golf balls, or at least they feel that way. Another cycle of antibiotics to go through and I am approaching thebigbadtoph's level of relationship with my backside. OK- I get it, too much information, but seriously I think the toilet is where I spent the most time in the last few days. Maybe I should move my xbox there and take care of business and pleasure at the same time!wink Topher I do hope you feel better now.

Apparently the avatar sex change only helped so far and last night the NJ Devils said wave to Lord Stanley's Cup. It was a great season compared to what we went through last year. Now there is talk of Parise leaving as his contract expires- I hope he stays, but we do need to free salary up and the way to do it is to finally let Marty rest. He helped us get to the finals this year, but he's due to retire and the Devils deserve a goalie that can give a steady performance all year or at least most of it.

My compliments to the Kings. They steamrolled through everyone this year- except us- and they deserve to have won the Cup. I doubt they will repeat next year but you never know.

Since I am talking about sports, I sleep through last night's match between England and France. What a disappointment. Sweden vs. Ukraine was much more exciting. I predict that Russia and Greece will win today- with Russia being the first to qualify for the quarter finals.

I think I bored my friends across the pond with my talk of soccer- although the first paragraph of hockeyness might redeem me in their eyes.

On the gaming news side of things- the E3 madness has died down and it will probably be like this until ComicCon in July. I can't be the only one that was slightly disappointed with this year's E3: the only thing that really surprised me was Watch_Dogs. It was a very well kept secret and the premises are interesting.

  • To do list

I cleaned out my To Do list, as I had way too many Achievements in it and literally got nothing done. I only have [Prototype 2] Achievements in it right now, and I hope it will help me focus on what I need to get done. How do you guys use the To Do list? I thought it would be a good place to just put everything I am missing in the games on my card, but....uhm...I am missing practically everything so that plan really isn't going anywhere.

Will try to put in a game list at a time and see if that helps. If you have any suggestion to make me a better completioninst, please share! smile

I think next up will be Halo CE, DiRT Showdown and Game Of Thrones as soon as I get the last on Thursday. On the arcade side I am close to a few completes, but am sorely lacking motivation. Beyond a session with planting42 on Thursday, I really do not foresee much progress on that front.

Mad Riders Feel the connection The Feel the connection achievement in Mad Riders worth 7 pointsWin a multiplayer race

After getting the online win out of the way however, Mad Riders completion will open up for me as the lvl 10 online achievement is only a matter of grinding races. There are enough people that play online to get it in a couple more hours and I am already level 6.

Das Kuhnen *LotR dude is a part of the "Haradrim Infantry" smile (One of the few things I can nerd out about)

RedDeadKBII I didn't read the books but I thought they referred to the soldier as Easterlings.

LitaOsiris Good ol' Captain Jack wink

My To Do list generally contains achievements that I'm working on but some achievements have been on it for a long time now. I don't know if I'll ever manage to get to them.

Will you have to get your tonsils removed?

alklein92201 laugh Kudos Ergo, well done

Kendrene you really should join that leaderboard.

RedDeadKBll, they were called Easterlings, but Haradrim was the race.

Kendrene @ Al and RedDead and Dasdas: thanks! Now I can sleep tonight!

@Ell: exactly how I feel today

@Lita: I sure hope not- the inflammation is slowly going down. Underline the slowly part.

Das Kuhnen Yes, Easterlings and Haradrim are both accurate. Different games have called them out as both as well.

GameTagwastaken Greece and Czech Republic will draw today. Looking forward to Parise and Suter wearing Red and White next year (if you're going to dream, dream BIG!). I use my todo list for incomplete games and games I'm working on. but it seems like I always end up playing something else, even if I have 10-12 different games on my todo list.

Ahbooya61 Brodeur's been saying for a while now that he's not retiring. The way he's played this postseason as well I wouldn't say he's due either.

And yes, Kings did deserve to win, however they did not deserve to win the way they did. Bernier deserved 5 minutes for that bad hit, but he didn't deserve to be ejected for it. It's a shame the Cup was won on that momentum-changing play.

The Disc Cap'n Jack's seem to be ten-a-penny now, boring!

I like the Hellboy one & I hope you feel better soon.

AdrenalineFiend Hey Kendrene, nice blog! I love using the to-do list feature. I used to fill it up with stuff I "should" do and it never worked. I would put a couple hundred achievements in it then weeks later delete them all and start over. Now I use it differently. I put achievements in it from a few games I am playing and really try to use it as a short term motivator. It feels like getting TA achievements for getting achievements haha. It works though. I guess as a group we respond to little pats on the back often. Kind of a sad happy bunch we are.

I agree on E3 too. I am excited about some AAA games of course like Gears, Halo 4 and Dead Space 3 but it was the PS3 exclusives that seemed most interesting. I even dusted that baby off, did the update and bought Heavy Rain last week because of it. I feel a little dirty but a little excited all at the same time lol.
Posted by AdrenalineFiend on 12 Jun 12 15:50:01
Kendrene @ Fiend: AC3 also looks stunning and I can't wait for Tomb Raider and the new Splinter Cell. I think I am gonna do the same thing with my "to do" list- or try to. It has gotten me motivated to finish [Prototype2]
Posted by Kendrene on 12 Jun 12 15:54:41
AdrenalineFiend Yeah, I now try to put achievements in the the to-do list that you can do in a day, weekend or week and then work away at them. I already have a mountain of unfinished, barely started and sealed games. No need to make the to-do list a mini-mountain and add game stress/guilt lol. My mood changes too often resulting in me going to games I never planned to resulting in a to-do list that would otherwise make me feel bad rather than motivated.

FinderKeeper Definitely following the Euros more than I was the NHL (or will the NBA). As an American, I know that makes me a downright freak. laugh The big upset so far was obviously Denmark beating Netherlands... we'll see if that's an abberation, or if the Danes can actually make it to the next round in a group that also contains Germany and Portugal. Kendrene, were you happy when Italy drew with Spain? I'm personally rooting for Croatia, so I hope that they can get at least one point (and preferably two or three) from the remaining games with Italy and Spain). That's not going to be easy, though. shock

I thought E3 was the usual for the past three years or so--not enough game coverage in the console shows, and too much "media content" stuff. Like many, I was most impressed by Ubisoft's show... a nice EXTENDED gameplay demo of Assassin's Creed III, and then the Watch Dogs reveal. Who knows when Watch Dogs will come out, though... most of the chatter seems to be that it's really meant for the next-gen, even though it will release on the current gen as well. I suppose it'll be like Splinter Cell: Double Agent was for the last transition between generations.

I was also impressed with the Tomb Raider footage and gameplay. Like Adrenaline, I think the PS3 might actually have some interesting new exclusives (i.e. not sequels); The Last of Us seems like a great new IP, and Beyond: Two Souls also looks interesting. I might buy my first PS3 (a slim, of course) between now and the holiday sales. That said, I'll still be buying most of my games on 360 wink
