Day 132: I'm Floored
So, a day of mostly gaming (even though I should have been studying) turned out some points for a change. I decided to play some Ghost Recon and finish off the campaign to net myself 160 points. Something that I haven't seen in a few days.
I found the last two levels to be pretty difficult, and the very last part was kind of ridiculous, but you just had to be good on the run. I am up for co-op, those guerrilla missions, and multiplayer but someone will need to drag me through them. So if your game I might be.
While recording I tried to knock out as many games as I could of FIFA in attempt to get this last achievement I need. Of course, it didn't unlock and I am toying with a "FIFA detox" for this entire week, and I will pick it back up when we record episode 98. I really want that achievement, but at what cost? I could have burned through these Gamefly games and others I have laying around, but instead I am sinking 24 hours into a 15 point achievement that I might not ever get...
During recording Microsoft announced their new tablet called Surface. It is pretty awesome, and I am really looking forward to playing around with one. There are two models, one is the main stream tablet which will release with Windows 8, and the other will have Windows 8 pro, and be as powerful as current day notebooks and release a few months later.
Of course Microsoft didn't comment on pricing or specific release dates, but they said the ARM based tablet would be around the price of other tablets, and the Pro tablet would be priced at an ultrabook. I said on the show that I would pay 700-800 for the Pro tablet, and I am sticking to my guns, but 1000 bucks (what current ultrabooks go for) is pretty outrageous even considering the specs IMO. I mean, don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic specs sheet, but I think that no tablet should be work $999.99. We will see what happens as we move closer to the Windows 8 launch, and who knows, we might know when that is in a few days. Microsoft evidently is planning on another press conference on Wednesday I think.
After posting the show I studied for a bit, but that was pretty much it. After I get off of class I am going to hit the gaming pretty hard for a few hours before work and hopefully get some points out of something. Not sure what I am going to play.
To wrap things up, what do you guys think of the Surface tablet? Will it be the iPad Killer?
