PermalinkA change in my gaming.
Hello everyone, hope you are all wellsmile.

Short blog today.

Last time I talked about why I play games, but yesterday I had a thought. I have fun getting achievements, so why don't I focus on them more? It isn't about the score or completion percentage for me, I just like getting achievements. So I have decided to pick up a couple of games when they are a bit cheaper that I can play for fun before going through again for any achievements that I want to get. The games that I am thinking of getting are Prototype 2 and Lollipop Chainsaw. I haven't played many hack 'n' slash games so I'm not really sure that I'll enjoy Lollipop Chainsaw but it has had good reviews and it shouldn't be too hard once I get the mechanics down.

Went to the zoo today, saw some animals that I had never seen before, best of all being a Binturong.

Got the spray paints for my controller customisation today too which I will do tomorrow. LEDs haven't arrived yet so will have to wait to do the electronics part but oh well.

Now, for some pictures which I can now do thanks to the advice from REBORN.

I will do a guitar pic, one gaming collectible pic and one miscellaneous pic per blog until I run out of each.

My first ever guitar and my only acoustic, tuned to standard EADGBE tuning for classical spanish music. Took lessons for 7 years and am a grade 6 player.

My only non-official gaming "collectible" so I will start with it. A companion cube from the Portal series (to any of you who didn't know that, shame on you warninglaugh)

Was on a family holiday where we drove past this church where I made my Dad pull over so I could take a photo of it. All I think of when I see it is if there is a bale of hay underneath it laugh.

To all who made it this far, thank you for reading, comments from anyone are welcomed (as long as you aren't mean), and happy gaming! wave

J0HNNY FRIENDLY Binturong. Tasty with a little drawn butter.
Liked your church comment.

TheDancingClown What colour/design are you doing on the controller?

Zatosan A friend of mine threatens to get me Lollipop Chainsaw, just because I talk about how much I enjoy the female form. I haven't played Prototype 2, but I have heard good things about it. One of my favorite hack and slash games is Conan. It isn't easy, it is VERY gory, and it is a button masher. Normally, those three make me not want to play a game, but it is fun hacking bad guys to bits!!

anomalystic777 @TDC Colour is a dark slightly metallic blue, changed my mind on a design atm, no design as making the stencils is harder than I thought. All the buttons are going to stay the same as will the base, so it will be blue and black. I am thinking of doing the triggers, top bar (where the bumber buttons are) and the base (the bit between the front and back casing), as metallic gold but I'm not sure if that will look tacky. May paint those parts later. Pics of blue case will be up in a couple days.

@Zatosan Lollipop Chainsaw looks like a fun game which is the only reason why I'm getting it, never been into the whole cheerleader thing. I have also heard many good things about Prototype 2, mainly that the have removed/changed what I didn't like from the original, still waiting for it to drop in price though. I don't mind button mashing games but I do prefer games with a more complex mechanic than pressing the same button as fast as you can until you kill everything, that is one of the reasons that I enjoyed The Witcher 2:AoK as much as I did, you just can't mash your way through that with it's combat system.

TheDancingClown Sounds good. Do you have to coat the paint after?

I have a sticky button so am going down the replacement button route, and then started looking at all the colour alternatives. Just going to go for all white, including thumbsticks and bowtie. If that is successful, easy I may start looking at other colours

anomalystic777 @TDC You need adhesion promoter, then the colour, then the clear coat lacquer. Normal spray paint won't stick well at all to the plastic so you need adhesion promoter first.

You will need to get replacement thumbsticks at least because the rubber doesn't paint well at all, even with the adhesion promoter, but they are only a few quid on amazon. You will also need a Torx T8 screwdriver to unscrew the screws, there is one hidden under the serial number sticker in the back of the controller too.

TBH the most annoying part if you are just going to do a paint job is prepping the controller. You need to wash it in warm soapy water, clean it with paint thinner(you only need a tiny bit on a cotton bud, if you use too much it eats the plastic) and sand it down with at least 1200 grit wet and dry paper (I personally use 2500, its finer) all while wearing powder free latex gloves, also use a paint mask for the paint thinner.

Don't know how much you have looked into it so gave you all the basics just in case. Are you going to change the LEDs?

What do you mean by bowtie?

TheDancingClown Thanks for the info. I hadn't looked into the painting at all so that was all good. First attempt will just be to change coloured buttons and if that goes well I will look at doing a whole custom job

anomalystic777 Also you want to have all 3 sprays enamel based. Don't use both acryllic and enamel as the enamel shrinks as it hardens so cracks the acryllic.

TheDancingClown Oh, and bow tie is the grey plastic bit on bottom between front and back case. Just a nice name for it!
