Week 17 - 118 Achievements for 2,300 Gamerscore (442,135)

A strong end to the week as I fought back decay from Party Hard Achievements has made this one of my best weeks so far for 2016. That was a big pain for me as I ended up losing 2,500 TA which meant come Saturday evening I had to put 2 new titles on my tag just for easy points to survive the GTASC. Go ahead and carry on reading to see what I played.

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 - 2 achievements for 30 Gamerscore (40/200)

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 Achievements was put on my tag in a bean dive 2 and a half years ago and hasn't been touched since! With Thrash Forever wanting to boost a few 360 games I decided I might as well get these out of the way too as I'm not keen on boosting with randoms and would rather play with people I know. All we needed to do is host an online game 3 times ensuring we had a custom hole picked when doing so (which we both had from doing the first achievement)

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2Online JourneymanThe Online Journeyman achievement in 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 worth 17 pointsHost 3 online games.

The final achievement we didn't get round to doing due to it being a longer pain to do was this one.

3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2Online ChampionThe Online Champion achievement in 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2 worth 36 pointsWin an online Tournament.

I'm assuming a tournament is 18 holes and we would need to do it twice for us to both to pop the achievement. We did the first hole in a tournament and discovered both golfers need to putt the ball for the hole to end which is a bummer and made us realise the achievement will be longer than first anticipated. We're only looking at about an hour and a half but we didn't have the time to do that there and then, hopefully we shall on Thursday.

Active Soccer 2 DX - 5 achievements for 500 Gamerscore (500/1000)

I had heard bad things about Active Soccer 2 DX Achievements but not even I was prepared for how woeful this game actually is. Often people hate on games which I end up finding half decent but that certainly is not the case here. The bonus which all of us here on an achievement website are grateful for is that the achievements are fairly easy to unlock in a little amount of time. I needed a burst of points in case I got eliminated in the solo side of the GTASC and this ticked the box perfectly with me getting 500G in 47 mins time. That was longer than it needed to be though as I had to play a few extra games to get the last two. My first match ended in around 5 minutes and got me 300G.

Active Soccer 2 DXFair playThe Fair play achievement in Active Soccer 2 DX worth 105 pointsDo not commit fouls in a match

Heck those first 2 achievements popped in around a minute as all I needed to do is start career mode followed by starting my first game, ridiculously easy! The Fair Play one was for not conceding a fowl during the game which was very easy as my players would take the ball of the opposition by just running in to them and never gave away a foul. The next achievement was very easy to do too but I did cheat a bit and plug in a second controller so I could ensure no goals were conceded as the AI did score one in my first game played.

Now the final achievement I popped should have been quick too but I kept getting unfortunate. Firstly I discover the achievement doesn't pop when 2 controllers are being used so that was a slight waste of time. Next I underestimated how rubbish the shooting mechanics are on the game meaning when I made the time limit to 3 minutes a match I ended up only scoring 2 goals and failing to get a hat trick for the achievement. I was getting tired and wanted my bed but knew unlocking this final achievement would put my mind at ease a bit more as I'd be over the 1,000 TA points scored in a week for the GTASC period. On my final 10 minute long game I ended up scoring 6 goals with Barcelona and popping the achievement.

Looks like a grind is needed to complete this game as you're required to win 50 games! Will probably get round to finishing this up next period.

Age of Empires: Castle Siege (Win 10) - 15 achievement for 500 Gamerscore (500/1000)

It was time to start playing Age of Empires: Castle Siege (UWP) Achievements which is the second time I have stacked it for easy points. I had been saving this as a last resort now for a while and with my bed time fast approaching Saturday night with me not being safe in the GTASC I decided it was time. Problem was none of the achievements auto popped as expected! I tried re-loading the game a few times but nothing. I read on forums that others had experienced this but there wasn't much advice available apart from to wait. Well time was of the essence for me so I decided to leave it and move on. Come Sunday morning as I prepared to leave for work I had a quick check on TA and could see that the achievements had now popped. I'd rather they hadn't as I ended up scoring points elsewhere meaning I wasted this 500 Gamerscore, doh!

FIFA 16 - 36 achievements for 625 Gamerscore (625/1000)

With FIFA 16 Achievements just getting added to the vault I knew now would be a great time to activate my 12 month EA Access pass which I had purchased off eBay for around £13 back in 2015. I've been on a bit of a FIFA streak recently and fancied carrying it on with this Xbox One version and boy it is better than the 360 counterpart. I under estimate the graphical differences at times between current and last gen as it is very noticeable. Gameplay definitely felt a lot better too and it was at this point I started to question if FIFA 17 will come out on Xbox 360 and I really hope it does not. I love the 360 but time for it to rest in peace.

In regards to achievements I've managed to get all of them apart from 12 in just over 5 hours which is quite a neat haul really. I would have liked to have spent a bit more time on it getting a few Ultimate Team achievements done too but oh well they can be done soon. Most of the achievements I popped were just the same as the 360 counterpart so I already knew what to do which was great. Here are a couple that were not on the 360.

FIFA 16Teacher's petThe Teacher's pet achievement in FIFA 16 worth 31 pointsGet an A grade for all the drills in a Skill Games category

FIFA 16Try-outsThe Try-outs achievement in FIFA 16 worth 40 pointsUse all 7 substitutions in a Pre-Season game in Career Mode

The One version has a newly designed drills for the training compared to the 360 version which follows the same scheme as previous iterations of FIFA had. I like the change as you now get a grade from A to whatever which is different to the point scoring it used to be. I've always enjoyed the training drills and really wish there was a harder achievement related to doing them. Teachers Pet was very easy to do as yes it was required to get an A rating but it was only on the easiest drills. There's nothing to motivate me to attempt the harder drills which is a shame. The Tryouts achievement is another one of those easy to do achievements too which ended up taking me two games to do as I ended up forgetting to do the subs at all due to trying to hit 2 birds with 1 stone and focus on other achievements during the match lol.

Looking at my remaining achievements in the game I do think I can get all but one achievement if I carry on with ultimate team and find somebody to do a few of the online achievements with. There is also the pain in the arse The Invincibles achievement in this version of the game too which requires spending real money to boost online. Doubt I'll be doing this.....

FIFA 16The InvinciblesThe The Invincibles achievement in FIFA 16 worth 318 pointsWin all 4 matches in an Online FUT Draft session in FIFA Ultimate Team

Hydro Thunder Hurricane - 4 achievements for 90 Gamerscore (125/200)

Another achievement boost with Thrash Forever which saw me unlocking 4 achievements in the game instead of just the one I thought we was going to get, bonus! We were boosting to win 10 online multiplayer events which took us around half an hour to do each as a race was 2:20 and then there were loading times.

Hydro Thunder HurricaneTaste My WakeThe Taste My Wake achievement in Hydro Thunder Hurricane worth 40 pointsTake first in 10 online Multiplayer events.

Although that was the highest ratio at 2.33 and had to be done online the next few ended up earning me more Gamerscore. All 3 were to do with earning credits which I got lots of thanks to winning the online events.

Hydro Thunder HurricaneSpare ChangeThe Spare Change achievement in Hydro Thunder Hurricane worth 38 pointsEarn 1,000 credits.

Hydro Thunder HurricanePeople PersonThe People Person achievement in Hydro Thunder Hurricane worth 48 pointsEarn 10,000 credits playing online or local Multiplayer events.

I should probably take this momentum now and carry on and do my best to get as many achievements in the game as I can. I wont bother with the completion due to two achievements apparently being very hard but there are still a few others that shouldn't be too hard to do. My only concern is with everyone now popping achievements in quick ID@Xbox games it means surviving the GTASC team elimination every week requires thousands of TA points. Spending time on an old arcade 360 game for a couple of hundred TA points at max really isn't the best way to spend my time. I do however have a couple of weeks off work now though so you never know I may play it. :)

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered - 52 achievements for 700 Gamerscore (700/1000)
External image
I had been hearing great things about Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered Achievements and with it having a 4 out of 5 rating here on TrueAchievements plus no difficult achievements I thought it was worth giving a play. Also I am quite in to word spelling type games with me enjoying the likes of Boggle in the past. This game is able to turn finding words on a screen in to an RPG fight and does it very well. I was aware going in to the game that there are word solvers that can be used to make the game easier (and a bit quicker) but to be honest just having fun with the game playing how I wanted ended up working out pretty well. The majority of achievements are cumulative based ones which would pop here and there at times which was nice as I never had to play for too long without an achievement popping which is always rewarding. Here are a couple of letter length ones which I ended up being proud of popping.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey RemasteredSee You In 'Sept'emberThe See You In 'Sept'ember achievement in Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered worth 12 pointsSpell 10 seven-letter words.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered'Oct'oberfest (groan)The 'Oct'oberfest (groan) achievement in Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered worth 33 pointsSpell 5 eight-letter words.

When I started reaching around the half way point in the game (of stars earned) I began to struggle a bit as I was under levelled on upgrades to be doing some of the harder challenges. That reminds me of a great point I want to make on this game which is throughout the 30+ levels there are a total of 3 extra variations to be found on each one. This ranges from removing letters from the playboard to rules stating only words of a 5 letter length or longer do any damage to the enemy. It's these changes that help keep the game fresh and a joy to play. It's true after an hour or two I would find myself a bit worn out as it is a mental work out but it wouldn't take long away from the game for it to have me craving to get back on and play it.

Eventually I decided I would make use of a word unscrambler to get through endless mode. As the name suggests this mode had me defeating enemies non stop until I died. With the aid of http://wordunscrambler.com/ and 2 hours free on Saturday morning I was able to kill around 60 enemies and make a big dent in the achievements for this specific mode. Later on in the day I came back to it and carried on a slight grind to get a few of the highest ratio achievements in the game to pop.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey RemasteredEndless Monster MasherThe Endless Monster Masher achievement in Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered worth 20 pointsDefeat 100 monsters in endless mode.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey RemasteredAlphabet SoupThe Alphabet Soup achievement in Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered worth 30 pointsUse 2500 letters in endless mode.

Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey RemasteredEndless WordsmithThe Endless Wordsmith achievement in Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey Remastered worth 42 pointsSpell 750 words in endless mode.

With 8 achievements left to go I will definitely get this completed next week. It's definitely a fantastic and unique title which I recommend all wordsmith gamers like myself go and play. It's currently on sale too at just £6.39 which I would say is a good price point for it and worth a buy. :)

Party Hard - 1 achievements for 50 Gamerscore (1000/1000)
External image
After a couple of gamers were able to pop the final achievement on Party Hard Achievements having had it glitch on them I realised that I too could probably get this completion. This was the achievement I didn't have, an achievement for unlocking all other achievements!

Party HardLol, Really? The Lol, Really? achievement in Party Hard worth 156 pointsComplete all achievements

Turns out the criteria for popping that achievement was looking at leaderboard statistics to track progress on it and not at other achievements unlocked as one would assume. Quite a few of us had the achievement for 100 deaths glitch on us a bit with me finding my progress getting reset by about 50 deaths at one point. I didn't think much of it at the time and just carried on again to make up for the lost amount but the achievement ended up popping early. Turns out that was the issue with the lol really achievement not popping as after I went and killed myself another 18 times the achievement popped and I got my completion. A week or so later than expected (I would have been top 10) but oh well!

Star Wars Battlefront - 3 achievements for 45 Gamerscore (45/1000)
External image
Had been pondering over getting Star Wars Battlefront Achievements for a little while now seeing as a new film came out not so long ago and there's a lot of Star Wars buzz going on these days because of it. I recently watched all 7 films with Sarah and Callum and since it is all new to them our household is Star Wars mad I'd say for now lol. When trading in some games at GAME I noticed they had this on sale for brand new at £19.99. I did umm and arr for about 5 minutes but eventually decided to give it a go and took It home with me. A few days later I had about an hour and a half session with Callum and popped the following three achievements.

Star Wars BattlefrontDo... or do not. There is no tryThe Do... or do not. There is no try achievement in Star Wars Battlefront worth 18 pointsComplete the Tutorial

Star Wars BattlefrontTogether we can rule the galaxyThe Together we can rule the galaxy achievement in Star Wars Battlefront worth 22 pointsComplete any mission with a friend

Star Wars BattlefrontNew RecruitThe New Recruit achievement in Star Wars Battlefront worth 16 pointsComplete any mission

We experimented in a few different offline game modes that are available on the game which prior to playing I didn't know existed. We attempted a flying mission which failed miserably due to Callum never being a pilot before so I made sure we picked a level where we played a grounded character next. After destroying a bunch of enemies with Vader and the Emperor we then proceeded to Hero vs Hero mode which despite Callum enjoying left him feeling agitated as I repeatedly kept killing him. He did ask for a rematch where we swapped characters but it didn't help him much lol.

It was the horde style mode (survive I think) that we played where we had the most fun. We had 15 waves of stormtroopers and those big walking machine things to deal with which took us about 45 minutes. We were playing on easy difficulty but were struggling at times so I did wonder if we would make it to the end. I didn't plan on it but once we were half way and I had already invested a fair bit of time in to doing this I decided to take it seriously and put my A game on. We were both proud and happy when it was over but disappointed that we popped no achievement for doing so. I did get a star though which can help contribute to other future achievements so that's at least something!

Thanks for reading and see you again next week!
