When I first started the game I was completely taken in by the colourful characters and the rescued graydians. Also, the game seemed simple enough. The first few levels were really easy and completing them was a breeze. So, I thought, what the hell, let's just buy it. It will be easy cheevos. Was I proven wrong!
Gameplay - 2/5 The "2" is not because it was a bad game. There were elements in it that seemed weird. The scoring was haywire. Sometime you save 2 less graydians, and you get a +2 and then in some other cases, it reduces to +1, and save one less graydian and you end up with just +3. The only to score big was perfect saves and that was one pretty mean task. The most difficult levels with perfect saves gave you a 100 point boost, but lose even one graydian and that trickled down to a mere 15-20. That was painful, especially when you have to get to 3000. Lose a level, by getting to a dead end, and you LOSE points, also in the range of 5-50 depending on difficulty and mode. That wasn't all! Don't rescue more than 60% graydians in a level set, and you get negative scoring for that too. Since scoring wasn't consistent and I could never know how I would fare on a level (even if I achieved perfection), it was kinda annoying. The colorful characters do not reduce your annoyance. In addition, lock your screen and come back to the game, and you not only lose level progress, the game counts it as a loss, taking away your ranking points!
Sounds - 5/5 Not everyone may agree with that rating, but I found the music good enough for the game. There were about three tracks that played throughout and somehow I got myself humming them too whilst playing. It was an interesting bit.
Controls - 3/5 The game had a funny way of mishandling your controls. There have been so many times where my perfect room has been spoiled because the game kinda redrew my path and I never could change it soon enough. It isn't automatic; it's just that when you draw a path and then sometimes are continuing on tiles right next to your path, the fingers kinda overlap and suddenly the path changes. Your original path of saving sometimes leads to dead ends.
Overall - 3 / 5 The game had its charm but reached frustration in the higher levels. The very first time I played it, I couldn't go above 700. It was only a lot later that I got used to the game play and managed completion. Not for the faint hearted or the achievement hunters. Grinding seems way too easy after this one.
