Angry Birds is every bit of what you expect it to be. Casual, puzzling, addicting, and fun. If you've never played Angry Birds before, but downloaded the free or trial version of some of the Angry Birds clones already available for WP7 such as Chicks'n'Vixens or Pandas vs Ninjas, then you are already familiar with how this game will play. Add in Rovio's high studio quality, FAST load times, and you have a killer game for your killer Windows Phone.
Gameplay is simple. Using a slingshot, you propel your birds as projectiles into fortifications where your enemies, the pigs, are seeking refuge. Different birds have different abilities, as well as different strengths against the block types that serve as the walls your birds will smash through on their way to the target. The physics of Angry Birds is also simple -- building materials are subject to gravity (for example, hit a tall tower to knock it down onto opponents) and each block is made of a different hardness.
The puzzle aspect is refreshed in each level to be completed. Different obstacles are between you and eliminating your targets. Some levels require 'skill shots' where you must position your bird exactly right to hit a target far away. Others require brute force, smashing through walls or using explosives. Points are awarded in a number of different ways: Smashing pigs, destroying blocks, and efficiency (you are awarded points based on the number of leftover birds when all pigs are smashed.) There is a collection element as well, so keep a lookout for the Golden Eggs hidden in 10 levels acrossed all episodes.
So if the game is so fun and addicting, why not give it a perfect rating? There are four reasons why: 1) Novelty: This game is no longer new. It's been available for iOS for quite some time, so it's lost a lot of novelty on a touch enabled device. 2) Value: Additional downward pressure comes from the game’s value proposition. The availability of other good quality clones that have established themselves at the top of the marketplace for free or a lower price actually lowers the value proposition of this purchase. 3) Uniqueness: The content is the same on iOS, it’s simply a port from another platform. That’s good if you like an identical experience across platforms, but bad if you’re a user that seeks unique experiences. 4) Wow factor: Frankly, this game didn’t blow me away as the best game I've ever played. It is certainly better than average, just not perfect.
Overall, the game is a lot of fun. It's one that you can jump into and out of quickly and easily (aided by very fast load times) so you can play for just a few minutes at a time, or longer. Even looking at it through a critical lens does not keep Angry Birds from being a solid title for WP7 and is definitely a must buy at the current price of $2.99. |

Angry Birds is a very good game that is quite cheap (0.99€). The concept is very easy since you have to kill every green pig while making as much destruction as you can. Each bird that you own has its own function. The achievement are easy except for having the three stars in the first three worlds and above all, the one for which you have to break 250 000 blocks, which takes quite a while... The only negative point of that game is that since it has been released, there hasn't been any update whereas on Iphone and Android there have been several ones... There are thus no Rio, no Season, no eagle,no 6th and 7th world : the contents are pretty different and that's a shame ! Be careful : you can easily be addicted to this game and everyone that doesn't know it will probably catch the "angry birds" bug !

When I first heard of Angry Birds I thought that it had to be a stuipid game, especially since people I knew playing it were none gamers. Well one day I was bored at a softball game I figured I would give it a try on someone elses phone. I was suprised by what I found.
The game is very simple. You take birds and you try to kill pigs with them. Sounds simple enough yes but Rovio found a way to make it a easy to play but addictive with plenty of challenge.
First off your have severl birds that have powers for lack of a better term. You start off with a basic red bird that has little power. But as you play there are several other birds available to unlock.
Yellow - Speed attack Blue Bird - Expands to three birds Black Bird - Bomb on Impact White Bird - Drops Bomb Green Bird - Boomerang Big Red Bird - Plows Through
The levels are basically puzzles which you try to get the best score, you get stars based off of your score three being the best. The game also has 15 collectables that will unlock additional levels. There are 5 worlds with a total of 255 including the golden egg levels.
The only knock on this game is that it is a direct port from the original version. If you already have this on your PC or on another phone there really is no need to buy it.
The achievements are well thought out and time consuming. You'll have to three star the first three worlds. Break 250,000 total blocks and unlock every bird to complete this game.
At the end of the day I feel this game is a steal for $2.99. There is not to many places you can get this much bang for your buck.
