World Gone Sour is a charming little action platforming adventure starring the Sour Patch Kids candies traveling through a miniature world built with bubble gum, pencils and empty candy packages. You jump, swing and grind through 9 levels; while, most importantly, gathering and sacrificing followers in order to complete your task.

The gimmick of this game is close to the game Swarm, where you have to kill your minions in various gruesome ways in order to proceed. Or you can just do it because it's fun and they respawn anyway. Basically you have to platform your way through some hazards like razor-sharp (for gummy candies anyway) fans and lit candles, and then stop to throw your minions at a trap or contraption in order to open a door and so on.

It never gets very elaborate or challenging, but that's one of the game's strengths. It's just a little 400 point diversion that constantly amuses you and never frustrates. You have a few laughs at the narrator's weird comments, kill a few hundred minions and beat up on some bosses, picking up some easy achievements along the way.

Oh, yeah, the narrator deserves special mention. The developers of World Gone Sour lifted a page from Bastion's book and included a narrator that constantly talks to you throughout the game. His monologue is a wild mix of helpful tips, sarcastic comments and just plain weird humor. When he puts his pervert voice on and asks you to bounce for him - which is the game's little tutorial for using trampolines - it's almost impossible not to laugh. One detail that I especially liked is that he can give you compliments for reaching hard-to-get pick-ups and such, and he has multiple comments for many situations, so there's always something new to find as you go back to levels in order to find secrets.

Ultimately, World Gone Sour is light on the challenge and if you're looking for something to fill the void left by Super Meat Boy, you're not going to find it here. It's not the best platformer ever made and, considering the fantastic games on the marketplace, doesn't even break the top 10. But if you're just looking for a few hours of light entertainment for a low cost and want to hear some jokes as you go, this game will fit the bill perfectly.

(Achievement whore bonus comment: Extremely easy completion. 5-10 hours depending on how good of an eye you have for finding secrets.)
