3. Campaign - Irollan
When you are ready to play, select Campaign and create a new game save for the opening story.
The Prologue serves as a mini tutorial, tells a bit more of the story, and introduces you to a few characters. Use LS to move about the map, and A to speak to other characters. Move eastwards and talk to the Hunter to collect Hunters (Hunter Core Units). These are one of the core units you will use battles. Keep following the path east, and then north, until you reach a portal.
During this next conversation, a Demon appears south of your position and attacks you. This serves as the first battle tutorial.
- The battlefield is divided into two parts, Top and Bottom.
- The enemy's army stands ready on the top of the screen.
- Your army stands ready on the bottom of the screen.
- The object of battle is to strike the Enemy Zone (top and bottom of screen) with your attacks.
- The move counter is shown at the base of the screen.
- An attack formation is created by placing three core units of the same colour on top of each other.
- Only units at the bottom of a column can be grabbed.
- Grab and release units with A to move them about the battlefield.
- Attack formations have a blinking charge number once created.
- Attacks are weakened by enemy units.
- Win the battle by depleting the enemy's health bar (top right).
- Your hero will regenerate HP after each and every battle.
- Call reinforcements by pressing LT or RT.
- Prematurely end your turn by pressing X.
After winning the battle, you will gain some XP. Gaining XP will cause you to level up and increase in strength and abilities. Continue following the instructions and move back towards the camp, before which you will meet another demon. Move to their position to begin the battle.
- Place 3 core units of the same colour side by side to create a defensive wall formation.
- Your own attacks will pass over your walls.
- Sylvan walls recover a small amount of HP each turn, as part of a special wall ability.
- All walls have a different special ability.
- The unit counter in the bottom right shows you how many reinforcements you have.
- When a unit leaves the battlefeld, it is added to the unit counter.
- Idle units are instantly destroyed by any incoming attack, but they also reduce the power of those attacks.
- Each unit has a different amount of defensive toughness.
Once again, follow the path back to the camp and fight yet another demon.
- Remove a unit or a wall by pressing B.
- Removing units costs a move, unless it creates an attack or a wall. In which case you get one bonus move for the number of chains created.
Continue moving towards the camp for some dialogue. After the dialogue, your character hides from Azexes, whilst other characters moved through the portal.

Side Quests: 2
The Irollan campaign is all that is available to you for now. Select that to begin your first story. Open the Map Menu by pressing X. Here you can view quests. Your first is 'Warning the Elves'. Move forward and you will meet Trixie, a Pixie, who will join your squad. You can now use Pixies as another core unit (Pixie Core Units). Units can be equipped via the Hero Menu by pressing Y and moving to the Army Tab with RB. A demon will also have appeared, and will be your first proper battle.
- In the bottom left is a spell meter. When full, you can cast a hero spell.
- The MP in your spell meter increases when you hit the enemy, and when you get hit.
Defeat the demon for the "Young Hero" achievement.
After the battle, you will be asked if you want to see tutorial about Links. Select yes.
- To make a link, create 2 attack formations of the same colour.
- Linked attacks must launch on the same turn.
- Linked attacks gain a bonus, making them stronger. The more attacks you link together, the greater the bonus.
- Linking can be used on all unit types.
Continue to the east and talk to the character with a gold '?' above their head. This indicates the current main quest. Silver '?' icons indicate a character related to a side quest. A bronze sword icon indicates a current quest-related battle, whilst a silver sword icon indicates a side quest-related battle. There is also a special skull icon for bosses.
The character to the right is Findan. Talk to him for another cut-scene. After some more dialogue, you will receive another type of core unit, Bears (Bear Core Units) After this, go right and collect Leaf Plate (Artifact 1/10) from the chest. This is your first artifact. You can either equip this now, or equip it later in the Hero Menu, on the Artifact Tab. The Leaf Plate boosts your hero's HP by 25%, so you should equip it now.
Move back west towards Maethorn, and defeat the demon that appears. After the battle, Maethorn will give you five of a new unit type, Deer. The Deer is an Elite unit, which works differently to the core units you already have (Deer Elite Units).
- Elite units, such as Deer, can be used to create an Elite attack by placing two core units of the same colour behind it.
- Elite units have special abilities. For example, the Deer can jump over enemy walls.
- Special abilities are listed in the Army Tab of the Hero Menu.
- The supply of Elite units is limited, and they can die during battle.
- To resupply, they must be purchased from Unit Dwellings.
- Elite units not only die through enemy attacks, but also when they are removed from the battlefield.
- They can also be used to form linked attacks, if their attacks are synchronised with other attacks of the same colour.
After the battle you are shown the location of a Unit Dwelling. You should use these whenever you need Elite or Champion (not found yet) units. Note that each Elite units has its own specific dwelling. The one you are shown is for Deer.
Your new quest is 'Anwen's Ambush'. Move downwards to the stone archway, and press A to uncover a path through the mossy tree. Here, you will face your first boss fight, but first go right to collect some resources. These are the resources (also won in battles) that can be used to purchase Elite and Champion units later. Now move towards Kullor, defeating the demon before him. After the demon battle, you will be shown another tutorial on Fusion.
- To fuse, create an attack directly behind an existing attack. Both attacks must be of the same type and colour.
- Fusion attacks will always use the fastest charge time.
- Fusion attacks combine the total power of all formations used.
- There is no limit to the amount of attacks that can be fused.
- Walls can also be fused to create stronger walls by creating a wall formation on top of an existing wall.
After the tutorial, fight and defeat Kullor, your first boss, whom will start with a wall. Use your Elite units to jump this hurdle. After the battle, you have a new quest, 'Druid Tree Attack'. Before moving on, open the chest for another artifact, Golden Roots (Artifact 2/10). You can only wear one artifact at a time, so take your pick.
Go out the cave and move north towards the Druid Tree. As you move north, talk to the Bounty Agent on your right for a side quest; 'Cromir'. You must find and return him. He is actually easy to find. Go south, and then west towards where Maethorn was attacked to find him. You must first battle him (Bounty 1/5). After defeating him, return to the agent for your reward. You can accept another two quests from the Bounty Agent straight away; 'Skullbrow' or 'Cuthlion'. Both work in the same way as before; you must find and defeat the named person.
On your right, you will pass a Deer Unit Dwelling, so feel free to spend some cash here. On your left are some resources and a cave. In this cave, you can find a demon guarding another artifact; Deer Antler (Artifact 3/10) and Skullbrow, one of the enemies for your bounty quest. Be careful though, Skullbrow is level 5, so you may want to return here later to defeat him. If you can defeat him, go back to the Bounty Agent to collect your reward (Bounty 2/5).
Continue northwards when you're ready. A villager will appear. Move left to collect some resources, and then continue northwards to meet a Druid. You will receive 3 Druids (Druid Elite Units). To the left of the Druid is a Druid Unit Dwelling, so you can buy more if you so please. There is also an elf to the right, blocking entrance to a cave. Don't battle him yet, as he is probably too tough for you at this moment in time. Continue northwards to the tree.
Collect the resources above you and then battle the Griffin Knight. Continue up the tree defeating the two Knights sawing the tree. In this battle, aim your units to specifically attack where the Knights are standing. Note that they do move left and right one space. After this fight, go right and defeat the Knight guarding the chest for another artifact, an Elder Staff (Artifact 4/10). Now go back left, defeat the Knight and continue to the inside of the tree. Inside, you will find Sir Strata, another boss. He has Champion units, so beware of these. Try to eliminate the powerful units early, and you should easily defeat him! It should also be noted that you need to avoid attacking the little dude with the flashing shield (Euny). He moves from left to right, and back again. Bare this in mind when setting up attacks that take multiple turns.
After the battle, you are given a new quest; Stop the War. Open the chests on left and right of the room for money and another artifact, Doubling Cape (Artifact 5/10), and then exit the room for another cut-scene/dialogue, after which you will have used leaf gliders to go to a new area. If you wish, you can go upwards to return to the Druid Tree if you needed to stock up on Elite units.
Before moving back down, move right and defeat the Elf blocking the cave (assuming you are levelled enough now). Once you have done so, enter the cave. Inside, there are some resources, as well as a new type of Special unit; Unicorns (Unicorn Special Units). Once you have purchased the amount of Unicorns you want, exit the cave. Move downwards and talk to the Druid. He will give you Emerald Dragons (Emerald Dragon Champion Units). There will be a tutorial for using these units.
- Champion attacks are formed by placing four Core units behind a Champion unit.
- The Core units must match the colour of the Champion unit.
- All Champion units have special abilities. The Emerald Dragon sprays acid on the battlefield.
- Champion units are also significantly more powerful than other units.
- As with Elite units, the supply of Champion units is limited.
Equip the Emerald Dragon and move further downwards. Ignore the red-headed guy for now. Talk to the Treant, Twigleaf, to his right, and then battle him (Side Quest 1/2). Defeat him and he will join you. In this battle, there are two already-charged Champion units. You must defeat them before they strike. You do not necessarily have to defeat them to win the battle. As long as you don't lose after they attack, you will win. I recommend setting up Elite and Champion units in line them, so they are drained or defeated before they attack. Note that they may recover some health after each turn. Win the battle, and you will collect two Treants, the final unit-type for this campaign (Treant Champion Units). Immediately to the right is the Unit Dwelling for Treants should you want more.
You can now return to the Bounty Agent to start two more side-quests; Sparky and Angrod. Sparky is the red-headed guy you passed earlier (Bounty 3/5). He is level 8 at the moment, so you can attempt to battle him if you want. You should be able to defeat him now, especially if you use your Champion units effectively. Collect your bounty and then go to the area right of where you met the Treant.
In this new area, there is another Bounty Agent to the right. You should have collected all bounties now though. Instead, move upwards and battle Varkas. Defeat him for another cut-scene.
Go left to talk to Nelir for your first Battle Puzzle. These are different than regular battles. You have just ONE turn, with three moves. In this one turn, you must destroy every enemy unit on the battlefeld. Creating chains will be important, so bare this in mind. If you get stuck, the walkthrough have a text guide and a video for each puzzle. There is an achievement for completing them all, so complete them as they appear. Nelir has two Puzzles, so beat both while you are here.
Nelir #1. First remove the Bear below the Dragon to create a wall of four Hunters. Now move the two Bears on the left to form the Champion Dragon unit. With your remaining two moves, move the two Bears on the right to the Elite Deer unit (Battle Puzzle 1/4). Video credit to YouTube user, qrkopl.
Nelir #2. Remove the Bear in the top right. Now move the Bear on the right to the other reachable Bear. Remove the Hunter to create a Core Bear attack. Now simply move the Pixies to create the Core Treant unit (Battle Puzzle 2/4).
Beat both of Nelir's Puzzle Battles, and he will give you an artifact, Treant Sap (Artifact 6/10). From Nelir, go right and defeat Sir Nathanson in a friendly battle (Side Quest 2/2). After defeating him, open the chest for another artifact, Dragon Scales (Artifact 7/10). Move upwards. To the right is the Unit Dwelling for the Emerald Dragon. To the left is Cuthlion, one of the bounties (Bounty 4/5). Defeat him, collect the Boost Boots (Artifact 8/10) from the chest, and then collect your bounty from the Bounty Agent (either one will do).
Move back upwards towards Varkas for another battle. In this battle, you must defend the giant acorn on the battlefield, while still defeating the enemy. After the dialogue, go left to collect the loot. Now go right to exit the area. Here, you must solve a small puzzle to cross the river. Push A to push logs into the river. To reset the puzzle, push all logs in. Push the 3rd log first, then the fourth, then the second, and then finally the first. Remember to open the chest on the island before crossing for the Ring of Life artifact (Artifact 9/10). North of the river you will find Unit Dwellings for Druids and Treants. Restock if you wish, and then move upwards.
Work your way up the path, defeating Demons as you go, until you meet Klaw and Virk. Battle these too. After that, Azexes will appear. Get him! There are various things you should be aware of for this battle. Firstly, you should aim your attacks at him. There is no Enemy Zone at the back of the area. His body (and area for harming him) take up just two squares. Secondly, his attacks charge up for three rounds. You should try to either eliminate these attacks by aiming your own attacks at them, or defend against them. I recommend doing both. Thirdly, Azexes moves about the area. When you see the yellow ring, that is where he will move to. You should consider planning ahead by creating attacks to the area where harm Azexes after he moves.
Winning this fight will unlock Findan for use in Multiplayer. Irollan is now marked as complete. The Holy Griffin Empire is now available. However, there are still some things to do in Irollan. When you get the chance, save, quit and reload Irollan...
Make your way to the Druid Tree once more. As you are climbing, you should find another person (a Ranger) with a Puzzle Battle. Talk to them and complete both of their Puzzle Battles.
Ranger #1. Start by removing the wall above the yellow Druid. Next, move the Bear below the yellow Druid to the blue Druid. Remove the Pixie to create a Druid attack. Finish off by moving both Hunters to the yellow Druid (Battle Puzzle 3/4)
Ranger #2. Start by removing either of the two highest Hunters to create a wall and a Hunter attack. Remove the only Bear that remains for another Hunter attack. You now want to create two Deer attacks. Move one Pixie to the Deer+Pixie. Now move the other Deer to the left, next to the Pixie. Finish off by moving the two remaining Pixies to the left-most Deer (Battle Puzzle 4/4).
For completing both puzzles, the Ranger will give you Vine Gloves (Artifact 10/10). You should now have all artifacts from this campaign.
Continue up the Druid Tree and you should find Angrod on the left side. He is the last remaining bounty (Bounty 5/5). Defeat him! Now return to either Bounty Agent to collect your reward. You should now have completed all quests in this campaign.
Suggested area for Unstoppable Army!
If you wish, you could go to the cave to the west of the first Bounty Hunter to grind out your Hero and Unit levels. There is an achievement for maxing out all Hero and Unit levels in any campaign. Hopefully by now your Hero is near level 10 (mine was level 9), and most of your Units are level 5. These are the max amounts. Equip your un-max-levelled units and move around the aforementioned cave. You will occasionally be ambushed by a level 4/5 demon. Keep winning until all units have been maxed out. You could even choose to do this earlier if you wanted to make the end boss in the campaign much easier.
If you don't want to do this achievement now, it may be sensible to return to it after completing all campaigns, just in case you reach the achievement naturally, or find a better place to grind in a later campaign. For each campaign, an area has been suggested at the bottom of the page.
Once you have completed all Puzzle Battles, finished all Bounty Side Quests, found all Units and collected all Artifacts, feel free to move on to the next Campaign.
