3. Story walkthrough
NOW IT BEGINS!
Alright, so now you're going to start your new game. Start it on Amateur Difficulty, It will be asking for your name. You can choose to name her Emma which is the default, or you can name her Commander Shepard. Once you choose a name, you have to choose a name for your horse. Some names you can choose are Starlight which is the default, Blue Jeans, Cupcake, or Steve.
Note: There are collectibles in this game, they are all easy to spot, the only 2 that you possibly won't find are both semi-hidden. One is inside your bedroom on the bed, and the other is hidden in the Labyrinth mini-game which I'll tell you about again later on in this guide. The rest are behind the house, and in the free-roam area. More are unlocked after each competition/training is completed and they appear in the same area as the previous. It doesn't matter when you grab these because they stay there most of the time, but I recommend grabbing them right away as it could glitch and you wouldn't be able to get the achievement until your next play-through. So keep checking the free-roam area and behind the house for more stable/clothing items. The other items are rewarded to you as you finish events in the competitions.
Once you're in the game go straight to the training area. Your Uncle Roger (who I suspect to be a pedophile) should be literally straight ahead by a gate. Go to him and complete the first 5 basic training lessons. Make sure you get a perfect score on all of the training levels in the game for an achievement that requires perfect on all training levels.
Anyway, after those first 5 basic training levels, you should unlock:
Local competitions unlocked
Now to go the stable and walk up to your horse and feed him, clean him, and love him. You have to do this 15 times for another achievement, which you will unlock soon. Unfortunately you can't do it all at once, you have to keep coming back after every competition. If you don't go into the stable for awhile, the horse will not want to go into the competitions.
Anyway, once you're done with that go right to the car where you first started the game and enter the competitions that are available to you. You should have unlocked a mini-game, which we will do after you finish the next training missions. So go back to the pedophile Uncle Roger and do the next 3 lessons to unlock:
National competitions unlocked
After the national competitions are unlocked, take your horse to the free-ride area behind the house and ride him in the open area behind the bush. Go find the checked balloon all the way in the back past the bridges and that should be the Race with Katelyn. Go into that mini-game and win it within 70 seconds. You should unlock:
Complete the Racing game in less than 70 seconds
Go groom your horse and go into the next few competitions, make sure you keep grooming him/her after each competition. If you do this you should unlock:
Groom your horse 15 times
After you finish grooming your horse, take him out back into the free-roam area to start up the new mini-game that you unlocked which is the Rodeo one. The mini-game is near the left bridge, it is a black and red balloon.
This mini-game is actually pretty complicated and might take you a few tries. What you have to do is tap your analog stick in the opposite direction the bull is going to keep your balance. The control's don't feel very responsive on this, and this will probably be the hardest achievement in the game for you. Just keep going at it until you can stay on for 25 seconds. Once it hits 25 seconds you can fall off and unlock:
Stay on horse 25 seconds in Rodeo game
If you completed the other competitions also, you can do the other mini-games while you're here as well. If not, go complete whatever competitions you have left and come back out into the free-roam area.
The next mini-game is the Labyrinth. This mini-game is near the bridge on the right and is colored orange and red. There is a hidden gift inside the labyrinth also, so make sure you try to find it, but don't find it right away, try to complete it within 90 seconds first for this achievement:
Complete the Labyrinth game in less then 90 seconds
About the labyrinth gift, there is a pair of gloves somewhere in there, I can't say where because it is a different maze every time, but that is the only real hidden gift anywhere in the game.
Anyway, if you completed the other competition, go past the bridge on the right toward the blue balloon to start Ball Slalom. Again, like the bull riding this might take a couple tries. What I did was basically take it slow but not too slow. Do the whole thing at Trotting speed (blue speed) and try to knock the ball into the gates. There are 6 gates, and it has to be done within 65 seconds.
Complete the Slalom game in less then 65 seconds
Once all the mini-games are done, go back to your Uncle Roger and finish the last 2 training missions. If you perfected every single training mission you should unlock these 2 achievements:
International Competitions Unlocked
Get a perfect score in training events
Now go finish the 5th competition. Once that's done go back into the free-roam area behind the house and go to the Green balloon right in front of you once you jump the bush. What you have to do here is basically herd all the animals into the game. Do this mini-game twice to unlock:
Send 16 foals in Foal Herding game
If you were good at the rodeo mini-game, as in if it did not take you any retries, or not a lot of retries go play that mini-game 4 more times. For me, I went and did the Race with Katelyn 4 more times because that is the easiest one that you can't mess up on and its not very long.
Finish fun games 10 times
Now it's time to finish the game. Go do whatever competitions you have left, make sure to get gold in all of them. During the 6th or 7th competition you should unlock:
But don't worry, if you didn't you can always retry at the 8th competition every time you finish a Dressage event.
If you finished the 7th competition, and you have gotten all the gifts in the open area and the labyrinth this achievement should unlock:
Unlock all wardrobe items
Once you are in the last competition keep redo-ing Dressage until you unlocked the Master of Dressage achievement, if you did unlock it then go to the next event of jumping.
Keep redo-ing the Jumping event until you unlock:
Jump 150 fences in Show jumping courses
And now with the cross-country, do the same thing until you unlock:
Jump 200 obstacles in cross country courses
But before you unlock Master of Cross-country, you might have also unlocked the 2 collectible achievements as well, and if you have gotten all gold's on all competitions, you would have unlocked all of these achievements.
Complete the entire game on Amateur difficulty
And last but not least, you need to complete the game one last time on the hardest difficulty. Don't worry, the game is not hard, the only thing that changes is that you have to press 'A' to jump over an obstacle. You press 'A' once the whole light is green on the floor to jump. If you mess up, just keep going, it doesn't matter which medal you get as the achievement is only to beat the game on professional, and you already unlocked the Real Champion achievement. Once you beat professional, you should unlock:
Complete the entire game on Professional difficulty
