Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Update Details

Respec tokens and challenges are involved

Ubisoft Studios are working hard to improve the http://www.trueachievements.com/TCs-Ghost-Recon-Future-....htm experience, including an evolution for the Respec and Challenges systems.

Following regular maintenance on August 7th, everyone with an active profile in Ghost Recon Future Soldier multiplayer will receive 3 Respec Tokens for their account. These Tokens will allow you to re-select decision points and can be used on any of your characters and will not reset your character's level.

The Challenges statistics will also be reset and revert to their starting values. This won’t affect your player’s statistics and Challenges will still escalate normally as players complete them. Challenges will then reset periodically, depending on the pace at which players complete and escalate them.

In the future, you will no longer need a Respec Token to reselect decision points. The method of performing a Respec will remain identical, but the game will no longer check for a token. You will be able to Respec at any time through the Gunsmith section.

I'm glad the challenges are being restarted as I had to get 50 kills in saboteur and get 35 kills in a row, but will it affect challenges already completed?

One of my friends in particular was very annoyed with the challenges that I basically set for him. I'm glad this is happening. Just curious about whether it affects challenges already completed.

I like that they are resetting challenges, now I can get that damn achievement. Before I'd thought about it, I'd already set fairly high records that would be difficult to beat. As for the respecs; the system was stupid to begin with:

You got one token to start, and one token at level. 50. You couldn't trial either weapon/equipment item in the multiplayer before choosing one. If you chose one item, you hardly had time to add it to both classes, and most definitely did not have time to customize a new gun between matches. it was just bad.

Now they're saying that in a few months, everyone will have infinite respec tokens, but the system is still the same, which makes even less sense. Now if you don't like the decision you made at a point, you can switch it for free, but you've got to re-customize all your guns and get both your ghost and bodark soldier reset manually, just to change one decision point. And if that doesn't work out for you; you can switch back, except you have to reset it all again. Basically, you have access to everything, at any time now. But there's a giant inconvenience if you switch. They might as well give players both options at every decision point, and save us the pain of respecing for the sole purpose of changing one piece of equipment.

I appreciate that they're trying, and I guess this change is welcome, but I feel like giving infinite respec tokens makes the old system entirely obsolete.
Look at me! I'm dancing, I'm dancing!

The only fix needed for the challenges is the ability to send a CUSTOM challenge to a friend. Random challenges to/ from random friends made the volley achv a giant pain.

As far as Respec goes, I think the intention was to make your decisions one way, with a respec token to use if you wanted to change it up or made a mistake, and then when you are level 50 and have a second character you could level that one up and make the opposite choices (and use the lvl 50 token on a different class on your way to 50 with that one).

If they are saying you will have infinite tokens and have to respec our entire character, that would be pretty stupid. If you can go to your class "tree" and switch your decision at any time, it could be useful for setting up a character quickly for a specific type of gameplay (UAV if you plan to be support, Turret to be more defensive, etc).

Either way, still waiting for more DLC or a sale on the first before I really start to get back into it.

The challenges are based on "personal best", so if your friend boosted 100 kills and never died, you had the chance of receiving a challenge for "101 kill streak", or "101 kills in a match". This is why they are going to reset perosnal best "cache", and start doing it frequently, so challenges remain realistic and don't FORCE boosting to complete them.

First of all if they didnt fail in the first place there would be no need for this. Second, it's good to see they are fixing it!

IMO the respec token should allow you to take your level 50 soldier and turn him into a level 50 engineer. That would make way more sense.

But I'm not surprised that isnt possible.

I got the challenges done and the return fire volleys by just removing people that boosted. I have a family plan so I was able to get realistic challenges some times. Only about 6 of my 20 came from other accounts. Most challenges were to beat my personal best. The funnest one was to get more than 27 kills in Conflict, I came out 33 and 13 to finish that. (Though I sometimes got things that were hard to replicate, it took about a week of trying to get it finished. Some days I could not compete. For instance there was a challenge to beat 24k points in conflict, which I got on the last double xp weekend. I had to let that one lapse as it was impossible for me to get.) Took me 24 hours roughly to do the multiplayer, including one boosting session to do the squad achievements. I had fun, glad they are having challenge stats reset though, that should make it way more reasonable to pop on and accept a challenge.

From what I understood when writing this up- it does not affect your completed challenges. I do not remember if there is a counter for completed challenges- but say you completed a "spot 30 enemies in one match" challenge before the update rolls. After the update the challenge difficulty will reset to the starting point, say 5 spots and you will be able to escalate it again. What you completed before the update should not have anything to do with it.

I can not wait for the challenges to reset, I abandoned the game when we figured out how the challenges work (Originally everyone thought they were just challenges from others, then we figured out it was challenges from others that were better than yours >.>).

Add that with the fact that there were lots of noobs on at launch week, so I got insane scores. Then had to try beat them playing against people who knew what they were doing >.>

I wish they made it so you had multiple friend challenges available to choose from at one time. I HATE having to wait 24 hours for a new challenge to come up, if it is a challenge that I have no interest in trying to complete.

Resetting challenges awesome finally going to get the volley achievement! Respec Token I personally could care less, now that I have my lvl 50 achievement I play as the same class all the time anyway. I hope they add some Co-op DLC like in Advanced Warfighter 2! (With Achievements)

I stilsay they should fix the challenges to where they mimic those in Game Room. You should be able to design a challenge and send it to a person of your choosing.

Its designed around the idea of always trying to beat your own personal bests, and your firends.

It's just another LAME attempt to get people to play multiplayer longer.

I can't believe that this game is still $40 on gamefly.
