UK Deal Roundup for August 7th, 2012

UK Deal Roundup for August 7th, 2012

The best of the UK prices

Written by KeithBGray on 07 August 12 at 09:51

New sales are more evident this week. GAME, Play and Zavvi each find inspiration from the Olympics. Meanwhile, ASDA and Tesco are concentrating their efforts on providing pre-order deals. Toys R Us also get in on the action by offering a small number of titles at awesome prices.

The bulk of the usual recurring sales return again this week.

You'll need to click on the name of the retailer or the name of the deal to be taken straight to the retailer’s offer page. Clicking on the name of a game will take you to the achievement list. All prices were correct at the time of writing and subject to change at the retailer's discretion.

New Sales:

ASDA is offering £5 off all pre-orders of Halo 4. The retailer's page states that the promotion is available "this week only". Hurry to avoid disappointment though, as there is no indication of which dates the inclusive "week" covers.

With the Olympics moving into the second week of competition, GAME has changed up their £20.12 Deals promotion. They've clearly forgotten that it's the Summer Olympics taking place just now, because SSX is on offer this week.

HMV has a bundle of randomly low-priced games to choose from. Some of the cheapest titles are as follows:
Fantastic Pets - £8.00
F1 2010 - £13.00
http://www.trueachievements.com/OF-Red-River-xbox-360.htm - £9.00
Quantum Theory - £4.00
RAGE - £9.00

Play has obviously taken notice of the Team GB gold rush at the Olympics as a new sales promotion, "24 Carat Deals", has started to take on the competition. There are a number of titles, including a couple of this year's releases, at rival-crushing prices (see quoted section below):
http://www.trueachievements.com/KoA-Reckoning-xbox-360.htm - £14.89
Skate 3 - £14.89
Syndicate - £14.79

In addition, Play has 4200 Microsoft Points for £32.99 and a Tritton AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Gaming Headset for the princely sum of £124.99.

Disclaimer: Prices quoted are when purchased from Play.com directly. Lower prices are available on some items on the retailer's website; however, these are often courtesy of private sellers. Be careful!Sainsbury's has started a new promotion providing the opportunity to grab two Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure character figures for £14.

Shopto's Hot Deals offer a different set of titles and accessories at great prices again this week:
• 12 month Xbox LIVE Gold Membership Subscription - £26.86
http://www.trueachievements.com/ACE-COMBAT-AH-xbox-360.htm (Limited Edition) - £11.86
• Turtle Beach Ear Force X12 Gaming Headset - £32.86
X-Men: Destiny - £9.85

Tesco has sneaked in with another (read: different) pre-order incentive on one of this year's most anticipated titles, Assassin's Creed III. Unlike the discount offered last week, you'll instead pay £39.91 (Standard Edition) or £56.84 (Join or Die Edition), this time around. The perk being that you'll receive a free t-shirt, emblazoned with the franchise's logo. Tesco state that this is likely to be a more long-term offer as it will be available right up to the game's release, subject to a limit of 3,000 pre-orders being made.

TheHut has started another new promotion, titled Games under £10. The pick of the Xbox 360 titles in the deal include Halo 3: ODST at £9.95, LEGO Rock Band for £7.95 and Vanquish at £7.95. There's also a couple of PC games (with achievements attached) worth getting your hands on - Operation Flashpoint: Red River (PC) for just £2.95 and Street Fighter IV (PC) at £8.95.

Toys R Us have a few good deals in the Savings section:
http://www.trueachievements.com/ENSLAVED-xbox-360.htm - £9.99
Final Fantasy XIII - £14.99
Guitar Hero: Van Halen - £4.99
• Xbox 360 4GB Kinect Celebration Family Pack Console Bundle (Limited Edition) - £214.97

Like its sister site TheHut, Zavvi are also providing several titles in their own Games under £10 promotion. However, some of the sale items on offer are different. The alternatives include:
Crackdown (Classics Edition) - £7.95
DarkStar One: Broken Alliance - £7.95
Duke Nukem Forever - £7.95
Hunted: The Demon's Forge - £9.95
The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian - £7.95 (or £6, as part of the 3 for £18 recurring sale)
Rainbow Six Vegas (Classics Edition) - £7.95 (or £6, as part of the 3 for £18 recurring sale)
Wheelman - £9.95
Strangely, and as you'll no doubt see from the site link, many of the games in this promotion are actually just over £10. Go figure! Unfortunately, there's no achievement-wielding PC titles at reasonable prices in this offer at Zavvi.

Zavvi are giving Gaming Accessories the chance to shine in another new promotion featuring a massive range of kit and gadgets. After giving the newest sale the once-over, the only piece of equipment worth noting is the Turtle Beach X32 Xbox 360 Wireless Headset, priced at £84.95.

Zavvi's Olympics inspiration sees the retailer aiming to Go for Gold this week:
http://www.trueachievements.com/AC-Revelations-xbox-360.htm - £14.95 (or £12.50, as part of the 2 for £25 recurring sale)
Borderlands (Game of the Year Edition) - £14.95 (or £12.50, as part of the 2 for £25 recurring sale)
Dark Souls - £14.95
DiRT 3 - £14.95
http://www.trueachievements.com/GE-007-Reloaded-xbox-360.htm - £12.95
Rayman Origins - £12.95 (or £12.50, as part of the 2 for £25 recurring sale)
TC's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier - £22.95
http://www.trueachievements.com/Your-Shape-FE-2012-xbox....htm - £12.95 (or £12.50, as part of the 2 for £25 recurring sale)

Recurring Sales:

• Amazon’s bargains for Xbox 360 and PC

Prototype 2 for 15 pound, not bad at all. I guess I'll get it when it's cheaper though since I have so many bloody games to start -_- When did gaming become hard work?

For anyone thinking about getting KoA, the DLC is the DoTW according to xbox.com. Might be a good idea to buy it now.
