Another week, another Summer of Arcade title provides astronomical numbers. Outside of that however, I've got nothing. This report is for the period July 30th to August 5th 2012
17,386 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 26,506 games between them (1,638 different games).Risen 2: Dark Waters
makes a surprising appearance at the top of the chart thanks to an European release. It's not setting the sales chart on fire or anything according to the TA Community, but it's still a good boost. London 2012: The Official Video Game
gets a boost from some sort of event that took place over the last two weeks.
Beyond those two titles, every other entry on this chart is an old standby and we desperately need some fresh retail blood. Top Retail Games Started
debuted better then I expected and it has added an additional 1k gamers that will show under next week's stats. The gap from Deadlight
is of course, substantial to say the least. Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
is slowing down enough that it likely won't break 40k any time soon. With 37k users on TA alone however, that is not a bad number for a $20 XBLA title. Trials Evolution
also is showing signs of dramatic slowdown, meaning that soon we may have a chart without the two of them. The Walking Dead
on the other hand, is here to stay. Top Arcade Games Started
Need for Speed: Undercover (WP)
was on sale and that pushed it up to the very top of the chart. Pool Pro Online 3 (WP)
and Asphalt 5 (WP)
continue the trend from July of WP titles that are disappointing. Top Windows Phone Games Started
6,924 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,102 games between them (1,231 different games).
Still the same line up of games as last week with nothing new or interesting to discuss yet again. Wait a minute....what's this? Left 4 Dead 2
has no new achievements, only a new piece of DLC, and yet here it is! In the middle of the chart no less! Well that's different. Top Retail Games Completed
is a really quick completion. It's easy too, as even I have finished it though my completion will count for next week's chart. Kudos to those brave souls whom grinded out Full House Poker
and did not use a turbo controller.
Congrats as well to those brave few whom finished Trials Evolution
. Those that finished Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD
should be punched in the head. So says the old guy incapable of even unlocking the Downhill Jam stage. Top Arcade Games Completed
Gun Bros (WP)
is slowly being completed while the interestingly named duo of Doodle God (WP)
and MonstaFish (WP)
happened to tie with 19 completions each. Top Windows Phone Games Completed
46,315 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 595,272 achievements online between them (48,546 different achievements).
More "Dawnguard" DLC achievements, a multiplayer achievement from the "Close Quarters" DLC for Battlefield 3
and well, Batman from Batman: Arkham City
Just one more week before this list will start to get split between multiple fresh retail titles vying for dominance. Top Retail Achievements Won
I love 80's music. Don't know why I felt the need to mention that now, but for some odd reason, I felt the need to express my love for Hair Metal in particular. Top Arcade Achievements Won
The dominance of a game on sale over the latest release is now complete. Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
Action-Adventure will remain on top for the rest of August, with both Sleeping Dogs
and Darksiders II
representing the genre. Initial press on both of those titles seems to be....well...we'll know in just two days when embargoes are up, but something tells me each will be popular with our community.
Join me next week when I spend the entire column mocking Hybrid
for the worst XBLA launch in the history of the civilized world.
