Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 Brings A New Gun

You shouldn't really be too surprised to learn that the Cabela's franchise returns this year with the biennial instalment in the Dangerous Hunts series. Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 features a story written by Andrew Kreisberg of Fringe fame, and sees two brothers being torn apart by the death of their father after a grizzly bear attack. Ten years after the life-changing event, the brothers are reunited in the hunt of their lives.



The game packs some new gameplay features, including a new gun peripheral:

Smarter and Deadlier Predators:
- The new Prowler animal AI engine simulates pack social hierarchies, coordinates complex group tactics and takes advantage of the surroundings to set up deadly ambushes.

New Maneater Co-op Mode:
- Two players can join together to take on wave after wave of increasingly deadly beasts in the all-new split screen Maneater mode.

Master Your Fear:
- Armed with the new Top Shot Fearmaster controller, control your heart rate to increase your accuracy, deal more damage, or slow down time to line up the perfect kill shot.Mashable managed to get their hands on the new peripheral to see just how it really worked. Through a pair of metal sensors placed on the barrel and the handle, the aptly titled Fearmaster can measure your heart rate If your heart is beating too fast, the screen will blur slightly until you calm down.



The gun will work through a sensor that is placed either on top of or in front of the TV. This sensor will be used to measure how much your hands are shaking too; this will also affect your accuracy. The buttons are in "logical places". In a nice touch, instead of being placed in the gun butt, the batteries now slot into the barrel just like shotgun shells.

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2013 is due to be released in North America on October 23rd. Dates for other regions are yet to be confirmed.
