CryEngine 3 Tech Demo Trailer

CryEngine 3 Tech Demo Trailer

It's so...beautiful

Written by SgtDigglesworth on 11 August 12 at 02:20 | Credit to METAL MIN0TAUR

When Crysis 2 was released it was safe to say that, graphically, it was an amazing experience. Crytek's brand new engine, CryEngine 3, will be used to render Crysis 3, and gamers will be able to appreciate the all new tesellation in real-time, which in short is the juxtaposition of shapes in a pattern, improved ocean and water rendering and dynamic volumetric lighting.

Crytek recently released a trailer that not only details all of the mechanics of the new engine, but also takes you on a tour of how it alters and intensifies the stunning landscapes you can expect in Crysis 3.

CryEngine 3 will make its debut, in all of its beauty, when Crysis 3 makes its way to store shelves sometime in the Spring of 2013. For all of our other Crysis 3 coverage make your way here.

Really doesn't look like anything too advanced. Not to say it's bad or anything, but I feel like currently existing games have been built on prettier (or at least equally pretty) engines.
But if the silence takes you, then I hope it takes me too.

Compatible with this gen. But obviously with less detail than this demo.
Looks great. Should be an awesome tool for devs.

If that's gameplay level footage, and not pre-rendered video that simply used the engine to be rendered. It's amazing. The Xbox version won't look anything near that good. But Crysis is still top end for all platforms.

I hope they improve the story though. Alcatraz coming to believe he is the now deceased Prophet, by gaining his memories through the suit, or something like that, made less than no sense in the last game. In any case, a decent, sensible story is more important to me than real time fog shadowing.

Music is still amazing; guessing Zimmer had something to do with it. He is by far, the best composer of this generation.

Basically Prophet is integrated into the suit due to wearing it for so long the new person who is wearing the suit i forget his name but lets just say jack decided to use the name at the end. Cause come on if you were in his situation you'd want to run around as a powered up one man killing machine named jack? or do you want a bad ass name like prophet that's both mysterious and menacing and wont make your enemy's laugh wink.

On topic one of the best looking if not the best looking game on console hands down the second one just blew me away with the graphics i couldn't look at another game after that without seeing how crappy the visuals are.

The attention to detail is amazing. It definitely shows promise if they put in the effort to utilize it.

Crysis 3 will probably be the most beautiful FPS ever made.

Right now I think that the only other game engine that's as beautiful as CryEngine3 is Frostbite 2.0.

Can't wait to try Crysis 3, I loved the campaign in the second one and I'm really looking forward to this one. Looks beautiful.

A lot of engines have great graphics, Frostbite 2, Unreal 4, etc. Let's see how the AI behaves.

Crytek is a prime example of everything wrong with gaming.

Gameplay? That doesn't matter. DUR HUR HUR GRAPHICS GOOD HUR. Just look at the AI in Crysis 1 and 2 as an example. And the completely stock gameplay as a whole.

And don't get me started on that "oh, there's no demand for Timesplitters 4. So here's that Homefront sequel that maybe one guy asked for" fiasco.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I've NEVER bought a Crytek game (I'm not counting Far Cry 1, since that's moreorless an Ubisoft-developed franchise now), and I will continue that trend.

i can care less if its stunning. if the story isnt good or it feels like im playing with a hammer and chisel then ya ill pass. they make a big fuss on how beautiful games look....that was so 2000. why dont they say the story is far more spectacular then the previous installments. why!
